Does anybody know if the US Courthouse is going to do anything with the land behind it? Would truly be terrible to just leave it as it is. Could easily be a park or another building.

Perhaps a good location to relocate the Hall of Record, or Law Library.

It may not be a park that is open to the public but they did plant it with native vegetation and I think it is hooked up to a watering system.

Yes! I saw them working on it not long ago. Planting new things, I believe. Seems like a waste of space!

The long term plan is to have an office building there - likely in the range of 5-7 stories - that would hold either City or County offices, but that is not set in stone.

A needed spire

They should erect a spire for the top of the Madison Switching AT/T building that was built in 1961. It stands at 450 feet tall between the Gas Tower (Deloite) building and Cal Plaza Building.

What for? They should at least light the microwave tower as seen in Grand Theft Auto V.

Am I the only one that doesn't give a shit about spires? I automatically disregard them when considering building height.

I like em.. they’re part of the design of the building. And there’s meaning behind them historically.. so it’s nice.

Onni’s Hope and Flower is in its topping out phase while 1122 Hope is moving faster since reaching its tower building portion

The Jordan Flagship store on Broadway opened yesterday to a line of people around the block

Bonus Game: Can someone guess this almost 2 decade old proposal?

^ Nice pics and I'm wondering like most every one else-when are they going to put up the crowns atop the Oceanwide towers?

WOW WOW WOW!!! The Santa Ana Winds mixed with your camera's abilities is remarkable. I cant believe I can see the Vincent Thomas Bridge clearly from your vantage point somewhere in the Hollywood Hills. That is outstanding!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing whats possible in LA once our air is completely clean.

I found these articles very interesting. As much as I (we) like to complain about the height of wood frame buildings in LA and the perceived lack of great design (cheap looking applications with stucco on outside), this is a result of our building codes. Something else is possible if we advocate for it...

Oregon just became the first state to legalize mass timber high-rises, and it could lead to a boom in tall wood buildings

Another link

These wooden apartment buildings are a surprisingly beautiful replacement for steel and concrete

The clarity of the air the past few days is great. I can see DTLA from Diamond Bar.

hughfb3, that render is one of the many (and somewhat recent, re: last 6-7 years) versions of Metropolis.

Yep having little humidity in the air is great for views around town. If anyone wants a great LA skyline view check it out from the top of Franklin St between Montana and Wilshire when around the Santa Monica or Brentwood area. You can see DTLA, Century City and the high rises in Brentwood all lined up
