That's what I can't figure out. Why the wall? I realize behind it will be the terminal eventually, but why build the wall that extends way above the roof of the garage entrance? I wonder if there will be some kind of common area up there and the wall is to provide some privacy from the riff raff in the terminal. FYI: there will be access to the garage from Fremont as well. In fact, that entrance is much more open and might be the primary place they direct residents and visitors toward.

Facebook Page

I've created a Facebook Page for Millennium Tower. Anyone who loves this building can become a "fan" of it. Anyone can also upload photos or videos to the page.

They could finish tomorrow, really, leaving aside the area they cannot do because of the hoist. You can see they don't even have the clamps installed on the penthouse floor next to the hoist. I imagine that this will be left until later.

Nice update Dave, thanks for the pictures

Looks like they are making slow progress on the manlift glass. Its good to see the penthouse almost done though, the glass is really helping to define the shape of the top of the building.

To further highlight that point, they had finished all the remaining glass on the midrise crown by 5:30 tonight. Assuming you took that shot around lunchtime, that's pretty quick for that amount of glass.

They're moving on the ground as well. You can see the stone they're using at the ground level, along with the other materials, in certain places. It looks nice.

I tried Chicago style, for the sake of old times. It was pretty good, but I'll wait to try New York before I make judgment

Sitting out there today in that wind eating a hot dog you would have frozen your toches off.

I went to the Giants game today (and stayed until the end to see the big comeback against Trevor Hoffman). I dropped some things off at work first and they had closed down the street between Howard and Mission to park a big crane, apparently to take down another crane from the mid-rise.

So I took some pictures. Apologies in advance to those with slow connections -- I figured the odds of someone else being downtown taking pictures on the weekend was fairly remote, so I posted several.

What's the white trailer-looking thing?

It looks like a generator. The tank-looking thing on top has an exhaust stack coming out. I'm wondering if that's some kind of muffler or catalytic converter to reduce air pollution.

I should never doubt that others will be downtown taking pictures of these buildings as they go up, rain or shine, weekday or weekend.

Nice shots.
