Another disgustingly polluted day here in San Francisco. I put on my oxygen mask and ran outside for a quick picture during a brief interlude when Salesforce Tower was visible through the smog. I don't understand how people can live like this.
In despair, I ran back to my house, washed the soot off of my body, and began researching cleaner places to live in California. To my dismay, I found that San Francisco has by far the best air quality of any major city:
San Francisco - 0 high ozone days per year, 3 particle pollution days per year
Los Angeles - 293 high ozone days per year, 23 particle pollution days per year
Sacramento - 111 high ozone days per year, 14 particle pollution days per year
San Diego - 82 high ozone days per year, 9 particle pollution days per year
San Jose - 11 high ozone days per year, 10 particle pollution days per year
I guess I will just have to stick it out here in SF after all.
Y'all create plenty of pollution, it just blows inland to the Central Valley as yet another gift from the Bay.
Anyways, it's been great watching this one rise. We were all agonizing at the slow pace of below ground work but once it went vertical the thing has really moved. 181 is the beauty, however.

I wish 181 Fremont could be over 1,000 feet tall. Kind of pisses me off they wasted such an awesome design on a 802 feet tower. If it was built in Oakland, I wouldn't care, but it's definitely not tall enough for where it is located. Too bad SF hogs all the tall buildings. They need to at least build some 700 plus towers in downtown Oakland. East bay is starting to look more pathetic as SF goes crazy. Oakland needs to start catching up.
Not trying to nitpick at all, but it looks closer to 48. Still, a great guesstimate on your end!
With respect to floor count and such, i see a diagram being passed around
which i think was before final approval and some last minute tweaks to the design.
For example, I do not think that the crown is open air, but is framed glass--- as was reported by SFCurbed some time ago.
Other than the obvious differences of the Salesforce Tower crown, there are other differences between the renderings that show that these are hand renderings only of reasonable accuracy. The revised render shows the park platform raised. The Salesforce Tower is also raised higher relative to the platform. 50 Fremont looks as if it is now even shorter than the platform is raised. The buildings in the far background are also different. I'm not sure if we can use the revised rendering to indicate discrepancies with the 'old' building section, or use it to compare floor counts. Furthermore, we don't see the full height of the building down to the ground level. The crown levels above the roof now disguised as floors don't really show in the section.
The only difference we can assume so far is that the "M" should read "61" instead, as we discussed earlier. You may correct me if I am wrong.
Yeah I think it looks better with the camel toe on top. Thank goodness they will have more than just one camel toe or that would definitely be a 1,070 feet hard penis rising out of the skyline as if Mother Earth had a strap on. They might as well construct two giant glass balls at the base and get it over with.

Nice shot chris08876 and Oxblue. I would say the curtainwaller is probably getting their ass chewed somewhat by the GC as they should be chasing the structure a bit closer than current progress. But that's not to say they maybe getting held up by forces out of their control..after all this is construction. Just sayin.
Breathtaking image. When I see images like this it really frustrates me that there aren't many more tall buildings for housing, going up. It is wasteful to only build up 4 to 6 floors ( Mission Bay ) because in the near future there will be nowhere else to build.
Once the current building cycle is basically complete, I suspect up-zoning to continue west and southward of the current high-rise core in the coming decades, if and when the need becomes great enough. If there any new tallest skyscrapers in the future beyond the height of Salesforce, I'm hoping it will be possible somewhere in these areas someday. It may be a long time from now though...
