Are you referring to the disrespectful behavior of those two females amidst "The Sphere"?

Yeah people forget its a memorial, not an opportunity for a selfie. Kinda like when Soprano told that guy to take his hat off in the restaurant. To show some damn respect!

That's the problem when memorials become tourist attractions. They loose the meaning behind what really happened.

I wwas definitely referring to the "shrine" that is now indefinitely on hold because the church-based entity that wanted this thing done so badly are now being audited from stem to stern.

Where'd the money go to? Or whom?

The questions are myriad and this whole thing's gonna get real ugly real soon.

Are you referring to the Calatrava Orthodox Shrine? If so, that was due to skyrocketing costs relative to the initial costs. Calatrava does good work, but boy, just like the PATH station, everything he touches and the subsequent management of the project is super expensive and borders incompetence. Legal issues relating to the property and payments as well from what I recall.

^ It’s not Calatrava’s fault NYC is the most expensive in the world to build anything.

Hell, it's not even the City's fault that this has come to a hit-a-brick-wall stop.

Talk to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America who at the first opportunity to do so made this self-righteous hue and cry to reclaim the parcel...and BTW who ought to be considered lucky as hell to be chosen over certain more contovesrial groups, which almost happened IIRC.

Talk to the people in charge of said Diocese's financial stability--i.e. those who who unbeknownst to all but themselves started using duly earmarked funds for this BS project to allegedly clear a yet-to-be-ascertained number and collective cost of defecits and misappropriations they incurred under their "watch".

Talk to the episcopal muck-a-mucks in the Archdiocese who are basically split down the middle as to whether the bottom-up audit of Church finances they "announced" would take place is even happening.

I wouldn't want a humble priest in a far-flung community out in the boondocks to be ordered to read an encyclical from the pulpit regarding this mess, only to find out that his congregation was lied to by unwitting proxy.

And that, dear colleagues, is what irks me.

It's easy for me to avoid "religious" discussions on a message board that heartily discourages it, despite the fact that I *can* have a lengthy spiritual/theological debate in the appropriate milieu.

But when I'm seeing an important piece of WTC II's final form being essentially stymied by higher-ups in my own "denomination", I feel compelled to speak on it as far as the leash placed about my neck by the Mod Squad will allow me free roam to do.

I end this post by thanking them for this opportunity to vent.

Now...How's 125G progressing?

The sphere stand in a park, not the memorial.

This site is extraordinarily tight for a tower of this size. They had to notch out the slab of the lower floors to fit the tower crane. The crane itself is just feet from the hotel next door.

Only in NY is a 912 ft. building forgotten about until it gets bumped up in the threads.

Yeah this one has been under the radar since we found out it wasn't going to be a supertall. Would still be nice to get some regular updates though.
