Trico has been selected as the site of the second Emerson Hospitality School, if Krog can get its act together. It looks amazing-

With the growing Medical Campus and colleges nearby, Willoughby Insurance has big plans

Quote:
So he plans to knock down the ramshackle one-story, red-and-white building at the southeast corner of Main and East Ferry streets in Buffalo – his agency’s longtime main office – and replace it with a 10-story mixed-use building to be called Willougby Exchange, ensuring his family’s name remains on something physical for years to come. The new building will include his agency’s main office, as well as his own future residence on the top floor.

The $26 million project, which would include over 100 apartments and an urban market, is designed to capitalize on the new buzz around that neighborhood, and especially that intersection, where two of the four corners have seen redevelopment.

The project also features 19,000 square feet of commercial space, including the 2,230-square-foot Willoughby Insurance office; a three-story, 4,632-square-foot fitness studio with a pool at the corner of Ferry and Otis streets; 5,500 square feet of space that is still available; and 7,380 square feet of space designated for a urban store. Smith said the grocer would not be a national chain.

Smith said they hope to start by late fall and open in spring 2018.

An LLC registered to a Brooklyn address bought the Pierce Arrow office building and a portion of the factory for $3.8 million. Read Property Group shares the same address and they've done some fairly significant development in NYC and have been selling portions of a former brewery for big bucks:

There was a rumor floating around that Ciminelli was looking to buy the Pierce Bldg. Fingers crossed the Brooklyn developer (Read or otherwise) can pull something off here.

Great to see Regan Development buy 885 Niagara Street - another win for this stretch of the west side. 53 affordable units are planned.

After tweaking their approved design and getting slapped with a stop-work order by the City, Ellicott Dev. had to go back to the Planning Board for re-approval. Here's the latest for 905 Elmwood:

Buffalo's tallest building has been purchased for a bargain price of $12 million by a Washington DC developer.
I have my fingers crossed.
It would be nice to see this redeveloped as a mixed use office, hotel, retail and residential complex.

Buffalo is doing a lot of solid looking infill and renovation work to its traditional neighborhoods.

It might not have a lot of tall buildings(but it at least has a few which aren't awful) but it has much more extensive and intact urban neighborhoods than the sunbelt boomtowns 5x its size AND also better than whats in comparable rust belt places like Cleveland even...

Bill Breeser is renovating 1225 Niagara - 3 apartments plus restaurant. He's also planning a future addition to the north that would fill the lot next door:

18 new apartments and 9,052 sq.ft. of commercial space at Broadway/Michigan:

Both projects designed by Carmina Wood Morris

33 high will be a great addition to the medical campus.

I'm surprised to see Ellicott's Pearl & Tupper streets project moving forward,
I thought the preservationists succeeded in stopping it.
