The Shard isnt in the 'City Of London'....which is a distinct entity within Greater London...so the article is technically correct.

This is definitely the 2nd most exciting project in the world right now, after the Shard of course.

I deleted a LOT of off topic posts. This is a thread about the construction of Bishopsgate Tower, people, not a debate over financial capitals or tourism numbers. Keep it on topic.

Kick off shortly!!!

Hi everyone,
This is my first post so first of all hello to everyone on here

Regarding this project, the core is due to rise from the end of September with a constant flow of concrete trucks. The steel is due to commence from January. The reason for the gap between the core construction and steel erection is the core needs to take the lead then the steel is to follow this up. The steel beams will be 3 floors hight so once the flow begins (and the traffic management is solved) this thing should rise fast.

Hope that helps any of you who are confused

Tom

Are there two cores, or clusters, of hi-rises in London? Where is the Shard in respect to these buildings?

^Yes, There's the main cluster of towers north of the Thames, and Canary Wharf and the other docklands projects east down the Thames. The Shard is across the river from the main cluster.
