Well as far as I'm concerned, so far so good in regards to the cladding.

Note the metal hoists on the bands between the lower floor cladding. Looks like they'll be used to hold up ads all across that surface, so you aren't likely to see that cladding for long after the tower is finished.

Yeah I noticed in the rendering there were a few ads shown (just as potential I guess), but I would imagine there will be more in reality.

This seems to be the case; look at the renders for confirmation.

thanks for the thread. Lecom. Just a little more history.
The spot was a parking lot for years and the Milstein boarded up with the intention of construction and then nothing happened for another several years. There was a pond and vegetation grew and it started to be referred to as Milstein Pond. Finally a render was released

But again, there was no movement. reports of selling the site followed. Then we got the next early render

Followed by the up-to-date one.

It has a duality to it. The Side facing 42nd street is very Times Sq with retail and billboards.

The 41st street entrance is more understated and is the entrance to the office component

Great update Scruffy. On the sidewalk shed, it saids "Unobstructed views", probably until the PA Bus Terminal Tower is built.

yeah, excellent job with the photography and uploading and posting took a long time to get going (I remember the site being cleared and fenced in when I was there in late '04) but now it's starting to create a wall along 8th Av together with NYTT.

8th Avenue, along with 42nd street, are the two stretches of streets experiencing a big building boom.

scruffy, your bandwidth is always exceeded when I get on here, you should open several more photobucket accounts and split up the pictures between them.

Or just use flickr instead. That bandwidth shit rarely happens with them.

Thanks for the update scruffy. I must say, I like the fact that the tower portion is not at a perfect right angle to the base or street. That gives it great character. You can't really tell from the rendering either, so it was like a pleasant surprise.
