It would be nice if they would start working on extending Reenders Ave to Peguis....

i agree with you on this. i also wonder how they plan to tie in Reenders and peguis cause that might help when christmas rolls around to help ease traffic on regent so people would have more choice of roads to KP mall.

Noticed that, boggles the mind as to why that stretch wasn't just twinned from the get go when that roadway was completely closed last year, does the city have any sense of planning or direction?

Always thought the extension of Reenders was up to the owners of Kildonan Place Mall who own all the land right up to Peguis?

i only found about that they were twining this section was a billboard posted at the cp rail crossing on peguis. construction has indeed start on the twining of peguis well south of Transcona blvd it has. it would of made more sense to twin it from the start but this is winnipeg.

Has the city given up on Concordia, it dead ends at it's eastern end (since the early 90's) and has remained two lanes since the early 70's even though traffic volume warranted twinning it years ago!

im not sure it seems that when i looked at the Transcona west road network plans that they would connect concordia to plessis but idk about what the plan is now.

Concordia was looked at either last year or in 2013 for twinning and the administration said the traffic count was not up the the amounts to warrant it yet.

As for Peguis twinning all the improvements for that street are being paid for by the subdivision developers and are tied into the sales of the lots. As more of the lots get developed they will have to pay for the remainder of the pavement as per the development agreement.

Never mind Concordia, what about Leila! They left the space to twin it til at least Manila and still have not done that after 30 years, not sure what the delay is. Especially when cars park on the two lane road and cause traffic hassles! They should twin Leila east of Pipeline to make it better, otherwise that space in front of people's properties looks stupid and useless.

The plan is eventually, it would get twinned up to what will eventually be Chief Peguis Trail, going past Ritchie St./Amberstone Rd.

It would be nice to get it twinned. Hopefully sooner than later, now that Amber Trails is in the final phases of being completed after nearly 25 years of developing that neighbourhood.

Concordia sill to connect to Plessis but its at the developers pace as they are paying for it not the city. As the Harbour View South slowly moves east the pavement will be installed at that time.

Down Peguis today and it looks like Bayview Construction is working on building the west side twin lanes between Regent and Transcona Blvd/Ravalstone.

Because there's not nearly enough traffic. It doesn't connect to anything and if you look at the layout of Amber Trails you'll notice that even if you built new housing to the north you'd probably build the CPT extension in conjunction. There's pretty much no reason to twin Leila much past Pipeline in the foreseeable future, even with a connection to a CPT extension.

Well if they aren't going to twin it then they need to ban parking on it because it just impedes traffic flow, or they need to at the very least widen it to be like Jefferson.

As much as it's annoying where parked cars are concerned, I do not think that's going to change either. Since it is in the long term plans to twin Leila from Pipeline going to what will eventually be CPT, it's not going to do any good to widen the street by 2 metres, only for it to get twinned later, and then narrow up the lane again to what it was before. It wouldn't be cost effective.

Besides, there is already no parking on the streets during weekday rush hours, if I recall correctly.
