I keep thinking that one is on the East side not the West side of downtown. I don't know why.

Site prep is starting for the Alexander in Halifax. It's been approved since 2008 or so (called the Alexander because it is attached to the Alexander Keith brewery). The rendering is a bit vague so it's hard to tell what they'll look like.

This make 7 highrises currently under construction in this part of downtown Halifax. There must be 12-15 under construction in the city.

Oh no, lets not do this.

(just defining "what is a highrise" and "what is downtown" and "what is Halifax" would be enough to derail this thread for a really long time)

^ Haha, I feel it going in that direction too. It's been a while since this thread had one of the recurring monthly debates that goes nowhere and accomplishes nothing, though.

Hali does seem to be booming these days, and it looks awesome. I very much would like to get out that way one of these days.

I wasn't trying to specify downtown, just city to city and using the forum's official definition of a highrise (11 floors or 35m right? Or is it 12?).

It is a fairly abstract title anyway. There is a lot more construction happening in Toronto. What I will say though is that when I go back and visit Halifax every couple years it reminds me of Toronto in that the city looks and feels noticeably different each time.

I used to feel that Halifax wasn't living up to its potential because it had a lot of almost-great streets that were a mix of excellent older buildings and conspicuous gaps in the urban fabric. A lot of those gaps are gone now.

400k with 15 under construction would be 4 million with 150 uc - So yes, it's safe to say that per capita it is beating Toronto. (225 uc to 6 million)

The hole at Wellesley on the Park is starting to form. It's about 1/2 complete one floor down. They're still forming the retaining walls on the south and west sides.
