TOM

The glass is of such dark blue as to almost appears black. It looks pretty sleek.

Agreed. The Altitude is a spectacular aesthetic failure. And in such a prominent place. The TOM is quite nice.

Also: the University tower, somebody needs to give that thing a paint job.

Does Hamilton just have really expensive construction for some reason? Like every time it seems much higher on the list than population growth or new towers would seem to imply it should be...

^ Typically on a good year Hamilton gets $1 billion worth of permits. With only three months into the year it's already more than half, so it should be a fantastic year for Hamilton. Plus it must be all mostly private too, the only public project I can think of is Mohawk College's new wing addition.

One should probably take these numbers with a grain of salt when comparing cities. The rules on reporting vary by municipality and so do the construction costs, so even if two places have the same permit values they could have a different quantity and quality of actual construction.

Roy Building under construction on Barrington Street in Halifax. Lots of restoration projects happening too. The street will be nice when all the construction is done.

^^This is exciting. I've been wondering how they were going to pull off that facade. Should've known the answer is to just hang it off of a typical window wall/spandrel facade.
