Note... I was wrong in my previous post about Intracorp already starting construction on Spruce... I beleive they did take this project over from someone else, but they've yet to break ground. I'm not sure what the other site under construction is/was.

Re: Mantra - it appeared that some of the residents are starting to move in and they have some on-site show suites now.

Here's a pic of that little thing behind the stalled lowrise development at Robson and Nicola. It sure doesn't look like it has very much square footage. Kinda cute!

^That's a cool little pad, whatever it is.

The Ferrari-Maserati Building at 3rd & Burrard has gotten a few bits of the window frames in place... what's the technical term?... we should start seeing some glass within the next month!

How long is this project going to sit idle? It's been under construction for at least 2 years now.

The city should take action and see to it that it is hastily completed.

I heard it went under and was taken over. No word on completion.

The Presentation Centre for Spruce (development at W. Broadway and Spruce) opens today:

Source: Spruce Living

Edit: Maybe this should be in the General Vancouver Updates thread. And on a related note to a recent discussion in another thread, the marketing literature mentions that Spruce is located 'a quick bridge-hop to downtown'...

nice thanks for posting that rendering, for some reason I had assumed a small 4 story type building so I'm happy with this instead

For Spruce, I like the spiral staircases from the penthouses to their rooftop patios/terraces. Pulse started this in Vancouver and I would have no objection to it becoming part of the city's architectural vocabulary.

Are you referring to the one on Broadway between Alder and Hemlock?

I posted these in the General Vancouver thread a couple of days ago, but I guess they are a bit more appropriate in the infill thread?

The new Trout Lake Ice rink is in the foreground. The new community centre is in the background. Both projects share the same architect Walter Francl.

Looks like somone went to the UDP meeting.

To bad the city is cashstrapped as is, the surrounding area sure could use a pool at Trout Lake, the one at Renfrew is beyond busy.

Saw that model yesterday before UDP. Looks fantastic. Couple other models kicking around for SEFC, some decent and good looking stuff. Didn't have my camera with me, though my hands were full anyways.

I live a block away. I should really post pictures of the completed practice rink. It looks so nice!

Looks like Cedar54 actually got off the ground.

As much as I really want this development to happen, I really don't know if it will ever begin construction. Oh well... we'll just wait and see what happens.

Here's their website for more photos and floorplans:

Someone mentioned this little project here, on Knight just south of 12th Ave. Not much has happened in the past few months but it is slowly progressing. I couldn't find the original post so I'm not sure who was asking about it:

Its my understanding that the moderne buildings built on the west side of Heather between 10th and 12th, and on the south side 700 block of 10th are to be demolished to create a park-like setting and reveal the original 1907 Vancouver General Hospital. In the picture, you can see part of the 1907 building peeking out behind the demolition. A few years ago I heard that the 1907 building will be renovated to become the new nurses residence.

This is the site of the old BigBamBoo club (quite infamous for its weekly fights and stabbings). There were a few name changes over the years with the last one being BarCode. Changing its name every few years didn't lessen it's reputation for weekly fights, stabbings and occasional "gun play"
