Why does everything Canad Inns design and build look like they spent a few bucks on it? What is the most affordable, and most outdated font ever....cause we’ll take it.

Also CC:Shindico on this.

That's exactly what I thought. Times New Roman... Good Lord.

I guess it could have been worse, it could have been Comic Sans.

If you are feeling nostalgic for Foody Goody, their location on Regent and Rougeau is still open...

Gave the clue here a little while ago but couldn’t let it out of the bag then... I think enough ppl in the industry know now it won’t be on me haha.

Leopold’s Tavern will be opening two Winnipeg locations this year with plans for more in the future. Don’t know exact locations yet but they will be South Osborne and Exchange District.

It’s a great small-footprint “dive bar” concept. Good comfort food, cheap drinks; will do well here. Based in Regina.

My understanding in the original owners of Foody Goody sold their name a long time ago to the folks that had started up the similar Buffet Square. That said both places run a similar menu and Buffet Square's quality has fallen off a sharp cliff. It used to be they had crab legs on weekends, cold shrimp all the time, etc.

In way less depressing news, Oxbow seems to be doing well and feedback is that their food and drink is great.

I must go.

Went for the soft open and it was a great space. Some dishes were "meh" but it was literally the first day they served them so I know it'll be amazing.

^^^ Interesting. For having such high-profile locations in this city generally, this chain has seemed to exist just on that. Whenever I go to one it is just because their convenient locations and then I am instantly transported to 2005. I know they're trying out a new concept in Vancouver so maybe that'll trickle here eventually. Their Polo location is definitely showing its age. Anyway, will be curiously waiting to see what takes that spot at St. Vital.. that mall will be one to watch.

^ Good point, Moxies hasn't really kept up. It really does feel like 2005 in there. The food is good for a chain, but in that casual dining world, image is pretty key too.

Moxie’s St. Vital is privately owned and not part of Eatz Group which owns all the other ones in Winnipeg, along with Shark Club and Chop/Denny’s. Wouldn’t be surprised if Eatz buys it - but that’s also why it’s so out of date. Most Moxies are franchised if you didn’t know.

Also, as I mentioned awhile ago, Leo’s made the officia South Osborne announcement: https://twitter.com/Leopoldstavern/s...571980801?s=09

Plans are to open an Exchange location this year as well.

Are they going to paint it Blue now?

Dhoom (bad name) and Spice Affair would have made it IF they carried a wider selection of deserts.

Ate at Pizza Hotline on Broadway last Wednesday early evening. Tables are too crowded.

$7.50 for an 8" w/2 toppings.

Had a mix of various Hit music from various recent decades.

Some big fat guy with 3 other guys was yapping his gums thru my meal.

Not bad.

Heard that Peg Beer Co has suddenly closed. Facebook page is gone. Internet rumours are swirling. Can anyone confirm what’s going on?

They were out of beer the last couple of weeks. Beyond that, can’t confirm anything.

^That's disappointing. By all appearances, they seemed to be doing well. I hope someone can make it work because it's a great space and great location.
