awesome work man. 75% of these shots looks like they could be from a magazine article about the city or something. Hope you enjoyed your visit.

Great variety of pictures here, KOTH. You know how to show off the best of each city you photograph.

Interesting. This is different from your usual threads which have a hefty amount of big aperture portraits which I love, in that it focuses entirely on closer up shots. This change is nice and fresh, I like it! The music is so 'Portland' too, which just completes a stunning thread. Did you check out Vancouver or Seattle as well?

Thanks for the short getaway to Portland. Your threads always feel like mini-vacations. I've never been to Austin, but I can tell that these two cities have a lot in common. If you haven't been to Austin yet I'd love to see a thread in the near future.

The second to last shot is one of my favorites.

Portland looks nice and all but I couldnt stand being around that many hipsters in one place. Its like Austin on roids.

I feel like I know the city now that Ive seen your photos.

automotive perfection.

Also love the sense of mass in those shots of contemporary apartment blocks.

Pine State Biscuits. Looks like he had the Reggie (in pic #47). It's awesome, but I can't imagine eating more than one a month.

just in defence:

"hipsters," though a group we are never supposed to champion, tend to like things like: urban cycling, stripped-down rock and roll, laneway gardens, well-made hamburgers, sidewalk cafes, farmers markets, made-in-america-and-built-to-last furniture and gadgetry, vintage maps and photographs, good bookstores, softball in the park, food trucks, streetcars and pretty girls.

i know there are some annoying guys out there, and a few sort of snobby glances, but credit where credit is due -- these are fun things. these are city things. these are ssp-y things.

Boston, OR looks like a fantastic place to chill or get a biscuit sammich - which is something the world desparately needs more of.

Cool captures, Mr. Wells.

If I ever want a slower pace I would settle in a city like Portland, although the cultural diversity seems kind of bland to me.

BTW, I kind of dig, the "no make-up" vibe of these photos.

Thank you. It's stunning how people hate hipsters on here yet like the very things they do (cycling, character neighbourhoods, hole in the wall restaurants, transit, loathe suburbia).
