Signing Markov to a big contract didn't stop him from being a top 5 D-man in the NHL.
He actually had his best years,
after he signed the first big contract.
Last contract was signed in 2007 (4 years length)...
2007-2008 was a career year for him with 58 pts in 82 games (he can't stay healthy right?
)
2008-2009 was even better with 64 pts in 78 games.
He maintained the same pace in 2009-2010 when he came back from the freak tendon cut with 34 pts in 45 games (on pace for 62 pts).
Speaking of Markov... he's did train with the team on Monday (non-contact jersey). It's good to see him back with the boys.
