Now that I'm moving away from the Great Lakes area I seriously regret not heading to more nearby American cities.

that was a really interesting thread... not as gritty as I might have thought (by grit I always think of tower blocks, massive projects and hideous industry) more of a sort of seedy suburbia... but lots of handsome architecture interspersed with some typical depressing American sprawl.

wow, just wow

I was born and raised in Erie (Blessed Sacrament school, Cathedral Prep) and moved away as soon as I legally could. After living in Hawaii and San Francisco for the past 35 years, I can truthfully say, that I dont miss it at all... until I saw your photo tour. Almost makes me want to go back to the old neighborhood. \ Feeling nostaligic.
