Hanoi - Hà Nội - 昇龍

In February of 2018 I had the opportunity to spend a few days in Hanoi Vietnam. The short duration of my stay meant I was barely able to scratch the surface of this place. But I was able to marvel at the huge trees, messes of wires, damp decaying colonial architecture, and frantic motorbike traffic. The weather was typical for February: cool and almost always overcast. These photos, presented in no particular order, represent a slice of my visit.

Interesting pics. So, was it smoggy? It looked kind of smoggy. I noticed some of the people had masks on. Or was that humidity?

There was definitely smog. I got a kick out of tracking it at http://aqicn.org. Flying out of HAN visibility was terrible. You couldn't see the end of the runway.

Interesting country, Hanoi looks beautiful! Fascinating with the tracks between the houses, looks very dangerous.

Like the colorful lighting and abundance of green foliage. How did the locals interact with you? Thanks for the tour.

It is important to note that the old quarter is very much on the tourist circuit so a couple Americans wandering around isn't totally outside the norm. Hanoi is a very hectic city so most locals went busily about their way and barely gave us a second look. Some would approach with a warm smile and try out their English skills. All the locals we interacted with were friendly and helpful despite a very real language gap. The few Vietnamese phrases I learned drew laughs.
