AliceDonahue, com announces the new Kirana Pyramid Beach High-rise on South Padre Island.South Padre is about to be taken to new heights, literally, with the new Kirana oceanfront condominiums, which will bring a new class of luxury - and will become the tallest building on the Island.

"Kirana is an Indian word meaning "ray of light" and the new design shines bright for the lone star state with a pyramid style high-rise like nothing the Texas coast has ever seen. This project rivals anything in the world," says Alice Donahue, broker for AliceDonahue.com.

"We are excited to have this class of product come to the Island and the pre-construction prices put this product on price par with our 1980's built beach condos, but this high-rise design towers above anything on our Island," says Alice Donahue.

These residences rewrite the rules of style, form and function. Kirana offers a refined collection of beautifully appointed 3, 4 and 5 bedroom luxury condominium residences and penthouse units.

"South Padre Island is outperforming nearly ever market in the country right now," says Alice Donahue, "and it's a great time to buy here, with our strong median price and record sales levels for 2009."

This one should be a little over 500 feet tall. It'll be the tallest building on the gulf coast from Texas to Mobile.

Hmm i dont know what to think about this one. The back looks odd with those white columns. I do like the inside, all white and pristine. Just dont get it dirty...

I happen to love this. The way the one side recedes really makes it unique, and it would be a fantastic flagship tower for this seaside destination. It will give SPI a chance to really reach for the stars. (Don't cringe at my use of a cliche lol)

What an extravagant design that goes with the city.
Will this be taller than Ocean Towers SPI and Sapphire?

(Sorry, but I just think stating something and renders just doesn't mean everything, the "Will be the tallest on the Texas coast" thing).

I think it is about ~470FT tall.

It will be here:

It will definitely be taller than 470 feet. Some of the South Padre Island/South Texas forumers have said Sapphire is about 500 feet tall, and in that one rendering the building is clearly taller than Sapphire. Ocean Towers SPI is 470 feet tall, but it'll probably end up being demolished. For anyone who doesn't know the story on that, there was a building that was completed, topped out and had its facade put on, then they found out it had some structural issues and that it's leaning slightly. It's not enough to be noticeable, but there are some cracks around the base. As it is now, the building is sitting unfinished and empty and will likely be demolished, unless of course someone with deep pockets comes along and corrects the problem and finishes it. It sucks too, it would have been the 2nd tallest on the island and taller than anything else on the Texas coast.

Why wait 9 months? Find youself a board and stick and float up the atlantic right now, no one is stoping you. I can you may not like Texas but it pisses me off that you had the nerve to post that.

New England is indeed civilization. However, for over 20 years now, I have chosen to call the Rio Grande Valley home. It is also civilization. It grieves me that you "can't stand Texas". I would never make similar statements about New England, and your statement says much more about your character than it really does about Texas. Those who choose to freely offend others often have other unresolved issues in their lives that are seriously impairing their social development, and gratituitous, disparaging remarks may lead to further isolation. However, this thread is not about a homesick New Englander.

I would love for this thing to get built. SPI needs another highrise after the problem that Ocean Towers is facing. (Rever to KevinFromTexas, Post # 9.)

Others have commented (in previous threads) that the development in South Padre Island may be somewhat lacking in certain aspects. Remember that SPI
is unique in several aspects. It was largely undeveloped coastal land as recently as fifty years ago. It is in the Rio Grande Valley, which can most accurately be described as a unique culture with elements of both Texas and Mexico. It is clearly the most tropical location in the 48 contiguous states outside Florida. I know of no sentiment to have South Padre Island resemble any other place.

The renderings of this "Ray of Light" seem to indicate that it will fit in rather nicely with the other mid-rises on the island. In renderings, it looks to be around 500 feet tall. Let's get this thing built, recession or not.

I believe this is meant to change SPI for the better...you know, more ultra modern high rise potential. But you can't please everyone on the way.
