A spot of good news for the TTC. Even with hiccups, it's still a service that is the envy of North America... As for Thunder Bay, I always thought that the city and Bombardier should've worked together to showcase their made-in-town transit solutions with a basic starter LRT service between the airport, downtown and university... Sure the city is only 100,000 but so what...

Toronto has always had excellent local service, it's the rapid part of the transit equation that Toronto lacks.

So they renamed "Downsview" to "Sheppard West" - I guess because they didn't want confusion with "Downsview Park"?

Some pics I took of York University Station from Saturday's Doors Open Toronto event. An extension of the Spadina subway is scheduled to open at the end of the year.

Cool place!

TTC marks 100 years of service across Toronto
Sept 1, 2021
Global News Excerpt

The Toronto Transit Commission marked a significant milestone on Wednesday as officials commemorated the service’s 100th anniversary.

It was on Sept. 1, 1921, when the publicly-owned Toronto Transportation Commission began operations. The corporation was created by merging a mix of private and public companies: the Toronto Railway Company, the Toronto Civic Railway and parts of the municipality-owned Toronto and York Radial Railway, a move that also brought together nine different fare systems.

During a celebration event on Wednesday, TTC chair and councillor Jaye Robinson said in 1921, adult fares at the time of operation were seven cents and tickets were four for 25 cents. Since the service launched 100 years ago, she said it’s estimated more than 32 billion passengers have been transported.

For all Torontonians love to bitch about the TTC, it is a fantastic transit system with subways, the largest streetcar/tram system in the Americas, and arguably the best bus service in NA. The frequency of all 3 is incredible.
