^ In fairness, clinging obsessively to the status quo is pretty much the most Winnipeg thing you could do. So in that sense, they're just being good Winnipeggers.

I'm suffering from "progress withdrawal" by not seeing the updated shot whenever I fancy, but here's another shot, albeit from a distance.

Thanks.

That development will be a great addition to the downtown. I just wish one of them was taller.

Is it possible that the three block strip will overtake Central Park as the city's densest downtown area? Either way, if the other two buildings rise, that will be one impressive area.

Arena, CTV, Hydro Building, as well as City Place, all four new towers, the Delta, the twin towers, the BDG, its smaller sibling, Great West Life, HSBC, and the newly expanded convention centre. There is a potential canyon developing down that street. If only the Convention centre had better pedestrian access. Either way, the SHED seems to be cooking.

Lol true north seems to be cooking. They're responsible for mts centre, centre point/glass house, and TNS which accounts for most of the activity there

What three blocks? And define "dense" because most buildings you mentioned are not residential.

It's climbing!

The reality of a mega-project being completed in Winnipeg is starting to sink in for me... since so few private large developments occur, it's always appeared like wishful thinking to me until 5 years after completion lol.

Best part is, this is shaping up to be the most impactful megaproject ever in downtown Winnipeg I'd say. Things like Portage Place, Convention Centre, arena etc. tend to be fortresses of sorts and don't always have the best street-level interactions, where this may be the first megaproject that successfully integrates with the urban fabric and has a big, lasting impact.

We'll see how successful it is. It's not like Portage place was built to be a "fortress". When opened it had street level retail entrances both on portage and in the back on the promenade. Sometimes visions don't materialize.
