Didn't someone on here a few years ago (or maybe a news article) represent that the owners were most likely waiting for the building to be old enough to qualify for special historical renovation tax credits? Did I make that up?

Very nice to finally see the Four Season permits!

Yes but that time has passed and the building has qualified for sometime ... I think he was waiting for that but mainly for the neighborhood to improve as well as for the jung to finish up . The jung opens in October so that's why he's starting to get ready for the new building

Jaeger also bought into the 1630 canal project

Looks like Frontier Airlines has made a pretty big expansion at NOLA ... flights to austin, san diego, san antonio and new destinations like Providence, Rhode Island and Long Island, New York

Convention Center - Revised Plan and Vision

Link below to a Convention Center Video showing their revised concept for the project. I wasn't able to embed the actual video on this site.

So would it be safe to say that the project isn't dead? Thoughts anyone?

Well this video was posted 3 weeks ago by the convention center. It wouldn't have been posted if it was still in discussions.

what you mean " still in discussions"? I would tend to agree some progress must have been made for them to do this video.. but with no press release or anything like that seems a weird time for them to have released it. Also, notice the video doesnt show any of the improvements planned for the existing convention center boulevard. which is weird but i guess may not mean anything since that wasnt the focus.

ALso apparently the serious legal issues with the canopy have been worked out so should be seeing movement again there soon it seems. it was something to do with the lots of record and they werent correct

Looks like a lot more detail than I've seen up to this point, so progress in that regard. I think it's a fair compromise to keep CC Blvd mostly as is and extend the Riverfront line. Probably a lot more cost effective and wouldn't have as much negative impact on traffic, both car and streetcar, versus running the line in front of the CC.

Wow! This video is great! I agree on the added detail, I think in order to even render something like this, they wouldn't just do it for just a conceptual, maybe, vision. Seems like too much time and money to spend for something thats not close to coming to fruition, Also how much money does the CC have stockpiled from that tax they have? This could be a really exciting addition to the city. I always really liked their idea of that huge market in the middle that looks like a train depot. If they could get a major department store and a grocery down there that could really help things pop off, like a Nordstroms and Whole Foods, or trader joes, or something. Who's the architect? EDR?

Is that not the trade district? Or is the trade district part of the convention center expansion?

Agreed on all counts that a video of this detail means something is moving forward with the convention center project. No way they would produce a video like this without an announcement of some sort pending. Probably have a few i's to dot and t's to cross before it can be officially announced.
