Yeah, what's that about, I'd hate to complain about the small details, but every building in Winnipeg has limestone, i'm thinking of putting up a limestone in my living room, if I had one.

Still really excited about this building, it's going to be huge.

You're lucky you get limestone on so many of your buildings. Most cities would kill to be so fortunate.

yeah our city should completely rock the limestone or tyndall stone in everything from now on. make our city pretty recognizable.

agreed, we are fortunate to have so much easily accessible and as long as it's used in highlights i'm all for it

I could be wrong here but i don't believe that is Limestone. I thought i heard that they were sourcing stone manufacturers in Europe. I heard somewhere what the stone was supposed to be and i remember being surprised that they weren't using Limestone.....again i could be wrong though.

^ that could have fallen victim to "cost cutting".

Sourcing stone from Europe does seem to be a slightly unreasonable extravagance...

The limestone will be fine IMO. It is used heavily around here, but this is a tourist location, so it should be showcased. I'll take solid stone over any other "manufactured" stone veneer any day of the week.

One thing I don't like about this rendering, is that the bottom edge of the steel frame is flat, unlike the original design.

Is this the latest rendering? Where is it from? It's not bad, although I agree with Brokenhead that the flat bottom edge of the glass is a little severe.

Definitely different than the smokey, cloudy glass from the artist rendering. While more smooth, I like it.

Second tower crane is going up right now.

I think the first crane got raised a bit to make room.

that image makes me feel WAY better about the design....it still has a nice proportion and the glass walls are still shingled, not just two sweeping curves...that does not come through on the smith carter rendering...they should really stop using that image.....its frightening.

too bad that engineering web site removed the images they had on there initially.....they had some cool renderings of what the steel framing will look like....nobody picked them off before they were removed i guess eh?

new, taller crane up.. makes this project look HUGE! can be seen from a lot of points around downtown now:

this one gives a bit more perspective of its placement in context with the main postcard shots:

Looks like I did the same walk as you guys this afternoon! The second tower crane really shows how wide this project is. I think it's safe to say that the over-the-river esplanade riel view will be officially cemented (even more than it is now) as the postcard shot of Winnipeg once the CMHR is complete. P&M + epic museum + sexy bridge = the money shot.
