^It has a similar diagonal wall on the south-facing (Bush St.) side, also nearest the corner of the Russ Building.

Construction Progresses on 19-Storey San Francisco Office Tower
Quote:
A 19-storey office tower is rising behind a Beaux Arts beauty in the heart of San Francisco. Developed by Lincoln Property Company, the project at 350 Bush Street incorporates the historic building, which was used as a Mining Exchange when it opened in 1923. It briefly served as the Stock Exchange and subsequently the Curb Exchange, San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, and Western Title Insurance until 1979. It has sat vacant ever since, waiting to be given new life.

The 350 Bush building is starting to make an impression on the skyline as seen from my apartment in the Civic Center. The green color of the skin is going to make it stand out.

as seen from St Mary's Square, the one being extended as part of this project (the park extension is behind that greenish wall).

I think I'm not very excited about this one. the view of the Russ Building it mostly blocks was superior to what this provides.

I am happy that the Mining Exchange building gets incorporated and preserved, that St Mary's Square gets an expansion in the other half of the project, and that particularly the latter fills a looong-standing hole in the urban fabric. but I wish this main building looked better. ah well.

^^Seems odd to remove the crane with the top incomplete like that.

I don't normally complain about this but every photo of this building leaves me thinking there's no sensible reason it isn't 150 ft taller. It would look better for starters. It might shade the park in early morning since it is to the east and I'm guessing that's the reason but only very early--maybe Tai Chi time.

Perhaps they didn't want to obscure the view of the next door Russ Building as much? I agree though (surprise) about making it taller. I wonder when (if ever) we'll see a new building with significant height in the north of Market FiDi area. Don't hold your breath...
