why bother? He does nothing year after year and is still elected. Voter apathy in Hamilton is a serious problem! It's how we end up w/ the reps we have (unless in my Ward 2's case where the 3rd place, fringe candidate w/ no confidence in winning was able to sneak up between the two progressive candidates who split the vote.. thanks a LOT, Jelly!)

There was a good crowd tonight, the rain held off and even Porter looked good. I hope the Cats do the same season ticket holder promotion next year.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have traded Arland Bruce to the B.C. Lions for draft picks.

Bruce was pulled from practice moments ago and informed of the trade.

OPTIONS FOR HOSTING GAMES IN 2013

http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=374804

News that Hamilton will need a completely new stadium on the site of Ivor Wynne did not catch the Tiger-Cats off guard.

In fact, the recommendation to demolish the 81-year-old facility is the result the team was hoping for, given that it will allow them to play in a facility that is up to modern standards in every way.

It's being projected that a completely new stadium can be built on budget. But with construction set to begin immediately following the 2012 season, that leaves one rather large problem still to be solved.

Where are the Ticats going to play the 2013 CFL schedule?

The team is in the process of exploring its options which include playing games at Hamilton's McMaster University or in London, Ontario. Extra dates at the Rogers Centre, alternate-site games in Moncton or Quebec City, or playing some home games in the visitors' stadium could also be an option.

That all figures to be sorted out within the next few months, but look for the Ticats to play most of their games in 2013 as close to home as possible, rather than having a full-blown barnstorming tour.

A challenge certainly, but one the Ticats believe will be well worth the end result.

WOW, kinda harsh!

BREAKING: Ticats fire head coach Bellefeuille

http://www.thespec.com/news/article/...h-bellefeuille

Making it to the Eastern Conference finals wasn’t enough. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Wednesday afternoon that Marcel Bellefeuille has been relieved of his duties as head coach after three seasons with the team.

“We would like to thank Coach Bellefeuille for his efforts during his time with our organization,” General manager Bob O’Billovich said in a release.

“He represented the Tiger-Cats with pride and passion, and has left the organization in a much better place than when he started with us. However, we feel this move is necessary in order to reach our ultimate goal of winning a Grey Cup.”

25,682 fans showed up to watch the Cats get smoked 43-16 by Saskatchewan. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=399571

Any Ivor Wynne regulars out there know whether it's typical for the Cats to not sell out a home opener? The CFL doesn't really heat up 'til Labour Day anyway...scheduling will always be an issue for the league I guess.

p.s. Any predictions on the season? I know they went out and got Fantuz and an 'elderly' Henry Burris but otherwise I have no idea how good they might fare. Oh, and Sam Giguere is finally with the team after having a go in the NFL. Anyway, what do you think?

Pretty good then. It's a shame fans didn't leave with a smile...

I also noticed that the home opener in Edmonton only drew ~35,000. Even CFL fans out West aren't in football mode quite yet.

Thanks.

that's still about 125,000$ the Cats pay to our City for renting one game at our city owned stadium. Which will still be the about the same price whenever the Cats play in our new Pan Am Stadium owned by the City.

Any predictions for the upcoming season there, smart guy? Or are you just bent on littering this forum with your fecal matter? Or perhaps you're just bent, full stop.

Do you have a source for that?

Don't know, can't find a source right now, I was under the impression they paid something way less, something insignificant. Something like $25,000 for the whole year. Not sure, though.

Ticats lose 39-36 to BC in week 2.

At least the offense woke up a little. However the D appears to be very sieve-like in nature: 82 points against already. Not gonna win too many like that.

It does seem like things are adjusting and the team is getting more familiar with itself but yeah, I'm not seeing a very good team yet thus far. Hoping that things will get better as the season progresses.

NBC to broadcast Hamilton Ticats labour day game

http://www.cbc.ca/hamilton/news/stor...-hamilton.html

American football fans will be able to watch the labour day clash between the Hamilton Ticats and the Toronto Argonauts. It's part of a television deal with NBC that will also include the 100th Grey Cup game.

The CFL says NBC will carry nine-regular season games as well as the East and West Division semifinals and finals.

The Nov. 25 Grey Cup will be played at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

NBC's regular-season coverage of the CFL will begin with the Aug. 27 game between the Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts.

That's a mistake.

Not NBC, but rather NBC Sports network, which is the old Versus.
