Major League Soccer 2016

With Drogba possibly here for the full year, now it's the time for the Impact to win the MLS Cup.

-Ciman resigned until 2018
-Cabrera signed (not on loan anymore)
-Porter healthy this season (hopefully)
-Acquired Harry Shipp from Chicago for creativity at midfield

Only question mark I have is Venegas. If he can deliver, I have no doubt we will be a VERY serious contender.

Haven't seen any games but apparently Shipp has looked good. And he's young too.

The Montreal Impact was the 2nd MLS team to beat a Mexican one in a 2 legged series.
Just look at this year, 4 matchups, 4 losses for US teams. What we did last year was incredible.

Yeah last year was pretty crazy with the champions league and Drogbas arrival.

Unfortunately Drogba looks like he'll miss the first game in Vancouver. I honestly don't know how his knees will last the whole season.

Just an FYI the match between Canada and Mexico at BC Place has sold over 40 thousand tickets. Now the entire stadium's tickets are on sale.

Impact turned down a 5$ million transfer offer for Piatti in the off season and tonight showed why once again (not that I needed confirmation)!

2 goals and 1 assist and an early goal of the year candidate for our designated player.

3-2 win for the Impact in Vancouver without Drogba. We are going to score A LOT of goals this season.

MLS decided to put a great title... DESTROYS Vancouver Whitecaps' defense.

That's why I said "possibly".

And Drogba at 50 is better than half this league.

I just caught some highlights... Does the artificial turf field make much difference? Did the ball seem to be more "bouncy" than on natural turf? Does anyone ever hear any commentary from the players about it

Artificial turf definitely makes a difference. Some top stars refuse to play on it since they get noticeably more injuries and inflamation (if they've had injuries in the past), not including minor injuries like skin burns and bruising. Even stars whove played for years in this league have refused all turf matches. The ball is more bouncy too which effects the way some players play.

I'm looking forward to TFC finally getting home games. Damn 8 game road trip to open the season won't be able to fully judge how good they are until then

Edmonton FC and Ottawa FC play the first leg of the Canadian Championship qualification round tonight. I'll definitely be at Lansdowne for the return leg.

Ottawa FC managed 7k+ for their home opener and a second crowd of over 4K in their second game of the season.

Canadian team averages for 2016 (As of May 11th, 2016. League play only)

Toronto FC (1 Match) 30,025 (30,025 total)
Montreal Impact (4 Matches) 22,800 (91,200 total)
Vancouver Whitecaps (6 Matches) 22,392 (134,354 total)
Ottawa FC (2 Matches) 5,670 (11,340 total)
Edmonton FC (2 Matches) 2,116 (4,231 total)

Not sure how you found all those numbers but I do appreciate your efforts. Would love to see the updated numbers near the end of the season!

I would not be surprised if by the time Toronto has its 6th home game like Vancouver it reaches 180,150.

Does anyone know if TFC expects to be at or near 30,000 for all of their games at BMO this season?

Last year, which was the first year with the expanded configuration, they had 3 sellouts. This year they're on track for 10 sellouts (so far). 9 of the next 10 games (except for next weekends Vancouver game for some odd reason) are expected to sellout. Some of the late season games should sell out too once we get closer to those dates.

OK, sounds like they shouldn't have much of a problem this season averaging in the upper 20Ks or close to 30K even.
