Not neccessarily the Rangers but their owners - the same owners that aren't happy about the NETS moving to Brooklyn. I don't see why they would feel any differently about the Islanders moving in on what they perceive to be their "turf". But that's the way it is in professional sports. It's why you can't just move another team, even a minor league team, into town without support from the already established teams. The Mets got a new minor league stadium on Coney Island just because former mayor Guliani wanted to put one on his beloved Staten Island (for the Yankees of course). But as far as the Dolans go (owners of the Rangers/Knicks) they didn't even want the Jets to get a new stadium on the west side of Manhattan, and fought very hard to see that one never see the light of day.
