This is on the site of the former Factory 21 used car lot. I love this design..very modern, great concept, good massing for the neighbourhood. It will fit right in with FRED and Time+Space and other developments in the area. Great news for Agricola and the city.

Wow, I'm impressed, not only by the design of the building but the planned uses. Those floor plans look really good.

This has got to be one of the best projects done in the city in a very long time. And its happening in our neighborhood. There is hope for the City after all.

The all glass main floor should deprive HCAP of a graffiti canvas too.

Wow! Agricola is really growing. In other parts of the town having one project would be big news but multiple. Wow!

Absolutely stunning design.

GO AGRICOLA!!!

Exactly the kind of thing this area needs. I hope the city in general sees more of a shift towards modern design as a result of this new round of projects.

I can't remember exactly what this stretch of Agricola looks like.

Bloomfield site neighbor

Just heard about the redevelopemnt of the bloomfield site.
The combination of the mccully project and bloomfield redevelopment will really consolidate the area as a unique destination point in the City.

to cool

Any news on this development?

I'm starting to get more enthusiastic about North End development as compared to other parts of the city.

A "30%" sold banner was recently put on the site sign.
Looks promising, the area is really looking good with the completion of the 'time and space building' and north St apartment buildings coming to completion.

I think this will be a bit of a "landmark" development for Agricola and for the city in general. Quality-wise this is along the lines of something you'd see here in Vancouver, while the design is somewhat different and seems really appropriate for that part of Halifax (very finely scaled, hemmed in, and pedestrian-oriented).

I'd love to see a North End that retained its best current buildings and institutions while replacing roughly the worst 30-40% of its run-down or semi-derelict sites.

Pretty soon I foresee the area taking off if this infill continues, because it will reach a critical mass where it can support a full variety of shops and services (including transit - imagine rebuilding a Gottingen streetcar or something similar) along the lines of what you only find on the other side of town right now.

Just in casr nobody's checked the news section on their website they apparently have a national pharmacautical company for the ground floor retail. I'm guessing Lawtons (Since there is a Shoppers nearby).

It also said it is slated to begin early next year and wrap up a year after that.

I think that this is arguably one of the best projects in town. It's tall enough to add density, short enough to stay of out viewplanes, historic matters, ect, its in an area that really needs it, and it architecturally speaking very beautiful and unique for Halifax

The sign they had up has been taken down.

Hopefully this is a good sign that they might be starting.

That would be great, alot of development has improved that area already with the North-Agricola site finishing up.

Since nobody mentioned this before the expected occupancy is Spring 2010 so construction should start within months at the latest.

I thought I'd bump this thread since it should be starting construction soon.

The expected occupancy is still Spring 2010 so does anyone have a guess as to a starting date?
