Aldergrove - Abbotsford Bus Link A Step Closer

At its regular meeting on June 27, the TransLink board gave staff approval to negotiate an agreement to set up a bus service between Aldergrove and Abbotsford. Abbotsford is served by Central Fraser Valley Transit (ValleyMAX), and the proposed agreement would see ValleyMAX establish a new route into Aldergrove.

Customers would transfer to the #502 Aldergrove/Surrey Central bus to continue into Langley Centre and beyond.

The new service would begin operation Sept. 4.

Is this the start of the new TransLink?

i don't know that it was fully needed before. the population explosion in the area has made this more feasible as more people move out further west but still work in the GVRD.

tit, you mean "as more and more people move out east" not west.

But yes, there should have already been access. There should be a downtown to Abbotsford Express bus as well.

To the Skytrain is good enough. Even if it takes #1 to Braid or something.

Actually, the bus will be operated by VallyMAX. The topic should read "VallyMAX's first bus outside the Central Fraser Valley".

True, but not closer than Langley and Aldergrove.

Aldergrove is actually kind of part of Langley, if I'm not mistaken.

They actually used to have CityLink buses that ran between Abbotsford and Chilliwack and Abbotsford and LAngley. They ran once an hour or something. They didn't have the ridership to support it so now only Greyhound does the runs... two or three times a day.

oops, yeah... so many years of living in the FVRD when I was younger had me confused.
