Anyway, this building is very simple and very thin.

I look forward to the 50 West Street is constructed.

As the WTC continues to be built out, along with the area south of it including 50 West, this will increasingly become mere fill which makes it decent fill I suppose, but still I would've preferred a completely generic glass box.

The area between Battery Place and the WTC (Battery City) is lacking architecturally. A lot of those buildings are relatively recent. I don't know why more taste wasn't used, but it is what it is.

While the D.O.F. has not taken any punitive action against McSam, the company recently resumed payments on its own volition, according to Pat Jones, an attorney for McSam. It has taken about seven years for the Holiday Inn project to reach its current stage, but the project will likely not meet its spring 2013 deadline for completion, the attorney noted.

As the developer seeks to finalize designs, tackle tax problems with the city and resolve the outstanding fines, McSam will also have to deal with local residents, who charge the company with neglecting the impact of the construction on the neighborhood. The residents also claim that their safety at the northeast corner of Washington and Rector Streets, which is blocked by the construction, is in jeopardy, since people have to step onto the street to pass by.

What do you mean? The building is u/c, and won't be completed until 2013.

Are you asking why there aren't updates? This is a totally anonymous building, no different from many dozens of hotels currently u/c in NYC.

It's also annoyingly out of the way from the subway on my way home. If 50 West were U/C, this would be getting a ton more pics taken of it.

OK,OK I know is u/c , but I asking for any updates , Ilove new York so much !! and i love every building , ugly or beautifull , build by the great Foster or the forgettable Kaufman, I love each, because they are in NEW YORK !!!!!!!

The building permits say 50 floors. The building appears to be as of right, and required no city approval (besides the normal permitting required of all buildings, in order to meet the building code).

Sound bites from NIMBY locals are not to be trusted.
