Kind of like the one at king Edward. Which seems like it's started construction

I'm not aware of any plans to build over top of langara station. There are mechanical things on top of the roof and I don't think those are temporary.

That'll be a nice one at the entrance to the Cambie Boulevard.

I think he may mean the "empty lot" directly to the North of the Station. it is a TOD site that Translink sold off I thought .... ?

as the house that was there was torn down to build the CanLine and then it was left empty with the purpose of selling it off for a TOD/infill

I think it's just because the station is coloured in that pic.
I don't think it was designed to be built on top of.

********

I didn't realize that Marine Gardens is by Concord Pacfic.

"Coming Soon" notice here - called "W1":

No I think he was referring to the station as that was coloured along with the four lots east of the station. My understanding is that there are no plans to build directly over the station like the way King Ed station was designed for.

The lot north of the station is owned by SNC and was listed for sale last year and is currently under contract, presumably it'll be sold soon. SNC had to purchase the lot for the construction of the Canada Line station where a portion of the station is within the lot. There is an easement in the lot for the station so I think it's a good assumption that we could expect a plaza there when the lot gets redeveloped.

Plaza 500 Indigo Hotel

There has been recent activity at the long stalled Indigo Plaza 500 hotel, does anyone know what the final plan is for the place? The old windows are being removed on the tower but the podium still looks the same (I think). I'm aware of the quarrel between the city and the owner of the property, possibly it was resolved or sold off? I have heard it may be converted to apartments in the past few years but have also heard the construction quality is poor and would collapse in an earthquake. It's been a serious eyesore for years. (IMO the podium of the place has always been terrible looking) I would be interested to see some pics of this place when it was first built, possibly was decent looking when new and all funky in the 70's.

I thought the dispute was between the owner and some contractors he had hired (ie: they weren't being paid).

Regardless, glad to see anything happening there.

Original redevelopment in 2011 ran into financial issues, as you stated contractors not getting paid. I also heard that was due to way more asbestos to be removed than was assumed to exist there.

Latest plan I hard was that it was now to be a rental building. However, despite refinancing there are still financial issues as they open up more walls and realize the scope of work has increased. I think it's going to be a long time before we see this one finish.

Here's a preliminary render of Concord's W1, aka Marine Gardens.

The website for W1 is pretty slick, though there isn't a lot of information there yet: http://www.w1vancouver.com/

Interesting that they listed Oakridge Mall's current retail offering of ~600,000 ft2 of retail, as opposed to the fully built out 1.4 million sqft that the rezoning and redevelopment will entail.

What a misleading rendering showing nice green residential areas in the distance, but cropping out the ugly (and stinky) industrial area next door.

Actually isn't this a fairly accurate rendering? There is no industrial next door to the Concord site... Doesn't appear they cropped anything out?

The bulk of the picture is north of SW Marine Dr. South of SW Marine Dr. is largely industrial.

Oh. I see what Klazu was saying... Can you blame the developer/marketer? I have been at the top of the PCI towers.. the view is actually pretty amazing
