Big biiiig things are ahead for MacKinnon. He has already broken a Gretzky record (most consecutive games with a pt by an 18 yr old) and was over a pt per game in Colorado's brief playoff run.

It's a shame that until the post above, we hadn't touched this thread since 2014. Yesterday was a real nail-biter until the end. I hope that most of us got to watch either from the Arena or on Eastlink TV. Go! Moose Go!

Mooseheads won the first game of the Memorial cup 4-1 over the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL. I was at the game in the upperbowl, crowd of 10,000 was rockin'. One of the best hockey games I've watched. Loved the blue Nova Scotia Highlander jerseys.

They sure have!! I made it out to both Friday's and Sunday's game and as was mentioned above, it was rocking! Fans are loud during regular season games but this was special. The coach for Prince Andrew even said they had underestimated the power of the fan base here, and believed it played a role in them losing to Halifax in the opening game.

*Prince Albert. Prince Andrew is a little too young to have a city named after him.

Wasn't able to attend Sunday's game, but did catch the last period in the HFX Sports bar and grill. It was quite crowded with people watching both the Memorial Cup and/or the Raptor's game (I was watching both). At one point the crowd broke out in a "Go Moose Go" cheer. It was quite nice to see the support from even the fans who didn't make it to the game.

I never saw a bunch of hockey players so thrilled after a loss. For that matter, I never saw a team so deflated after winning. Only at the Memorial Cup!

Here's hoping we hear the Yakoo Boyz play a lot during Sunday's sold out final.

Thanks for catching that. I hadn't noticed at all obviously. No wonder the Moose won. I had them playing a high school team.

And you thought the Memorial Cup had taken over the city.

Overheard last night from a group of young people on Prince Street:
“What’s with all the people down here?”
“Where are they all going?”
“I think there’s a Mooseheads game.”
“Nah, the Mooseheads aren’t playing anymore.”

Sigh.

Former Moosehead (Memorial Cup winner) and Halifax's own Nathan Mackinnon's Stanley Cup Parade is in Downtown Halifax today at noon.

Expecting a massive crowd.

It's a good thing they didn't ban vehicles from SGR after all!
