I wish I had taken my camera, but we were driving by on I-35 and there were workers on the site north of the office building.

Last I heard Texas Monthly vacated or was planning to vacate the existing office building. They said that the developer could not deliver on plans that motivated them to move there in the first place. http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/ne...-downtown.html

Are there any renderings for the presumed apartment complex to the north of the existing building?

I figure the bulk of the Concordia parcel will ultimately give way to St. David's piecemeal exapansion over the coming years. That is probably the best use of the property.

There is a small picture of the University Park apartment building in the bottom left corner of this link. I don't know how to post the picture. It is a generic looking four or five story with attached parking structure.

That's a pretty nice project. I like the facade detail.

If you scroll down, this PDF file has some renderings of some of the buildings including one that is 17 floors tall.

Plan for old Concordia site to change

Cypress Real Estate has 10 years to listen to market demands

Austin Business Journal by James Jeffrey, Staff Writer

Staff Writer- Austin Business Journal

The new developers of the old Concordia University site near downtown Austin have secured more time to finish their part of the embattled project.

Austin City Council on Aug. 2 approved a 10-year managed-growth agreement for about seven of the site’s 23 acres. That gives Cypress Real Estate Advisors until 2023 to finish its part of the project without having to go back to city planners for major approvals.

I changed the thread title from University Park since I'm not sure the development is under that name anymore. Remember it was also called East Avenue for a while, too. But that has changed. I'm thinking they'll probably re-name the whole project.

I am guessing that the 10 year extension of site plan approval is just something to give stakeholders bargaining chips in determining future building plans at the site and keeping NIMBYs at bay. The original plan is very unlikely to be realized, but the site plan approval makes it so much easier to get alternative plans apporoved either for a large project or for piecemeal development of the site. I think that St. Davids will eventually expand into the site. I hope they do actually because a bigger and better St. Davids in central Austin is good for the city with lots of jobs and the prestige that comes with the presence of a major metropolitan hospital. Building up is probably not an option for St. Davids at the present site, but they can get a bit of height developing in the Concordia location and then tie it all together with tunnels or walkways.
