Great pics. Even though I am happy that I don't live there anymore, I must say that Amsterdam is still (one of) the most beautiful city (or cities) in the world.

In which neighbourhood are you living? I am just curious.

The picture with the night shop (avondverkoop) is at the Westlandgracht, where I used to live. Until the 1950's Amsterdam ended there.

Picture #19 with all the office buildings, with the building of ABN Amro in the center, is also in that neighbourhood.

Looks like you lived in the same neighbourhood than I do

Last year I had to pick up a friend, who is living there as well. I had not been there for a long time. When I came there, really a lot had changed. I grew up in the neighbourhood across the Westlandgracht, and I must say there was a lot that I did not recognize anymore. It was quite a shock.

But nevertheless, it is still a nice neighbourhood to live. You could have picked a place much worse.

The neighbourhood around Hoofddorpplein and Westlandgracht is actually pretty nice, its further west and northwest in Slotervaart where the seedy areas start.

But that's really about to change. Buildings there are torn down all over the place and the amount of new construction is amazing.

Spectacular views. I visited twice and remember the old city well, but I never got out to the newer parts with the taller and more modern buildings. There is a lot of aesthetically pleasing modern architecture in Amsterdam. The canal with the newer low-rise housing is interesting - not as charming as the old stuff but it does a nice job. Thanks for posting these... makes me want to go back!

I like your moniker. I am also a big Tintin fan.

I've been saying this for years, THIS is the way I wish Philly's waterfront (Delaware) would look like, and it's great examples like this I keep on using.

So, you got a bike yet?

Very cool. I can never get enough of the idea of a bicycle parking garage. Brilliant.

Amazing Amsterdam and Amazing photos.

I was there a few years back doing college projects on the parks of Amsterdam and I was situated around Vondelpark, it was a great week and plan to go back.
