I don't think they're turning Bourbon into a "pedestrian only" street.

I thought the Starbucks thing was more than a rumor? I'm just glad it won't be a stand-alone store.

The latest articles I've read say the city's study is now recommending a slightly earlier closure time for traffic after morning deliveries, but still keeping it open during the day to traffic. It also looks at closing Decatur Street at Jackson Square but I think that's a bad idea. Decatur just needs some traffic calming measures but should be left open 247.

Here's the full study:

I think they could pedestrianize Decatur from Dumaine to Esplanade. Just make N Peters a two-way street...

Maybe pedestrianize Frenchmen at night, too.

I don't think that's necessary.. Frenchman will just turn into more of a tourist trap than it already is and I can tell you the residents in the Triangle don't want that. Hopefully the airbnb crackdown will help that out too (although it definitely should be closed during halloween) I think Decatur does fine honestly considering how much traffic both car and people go through there and its really only super backed up on weekends.. Closing that off would make the quarter just about impossible to cross. If anything they just need to time the lights better.
