there is an an entry to the plaza/lougheed side from what looks like the cafe area of the store, not a main entry, west vancouver has about 3 entries, 1 main one and two side ones

Yes, YF's pics show a small entrance at the Lougheed corner:

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...&postcount=614

The L2 layout does seem a bit odd since there aren't any small units facing the "plaza".
The Whole Foods is very much a "big box" with some windows.

I guess it may be intended to force shoppers to walk to the south end of the plaza,
but the retailers on L1 may suffer the same invisibility that stores at the Vancouver Convention Centre walkway
face (which can't be seen from Jack Poole Plaza).

the main entrance is on the south plaza, there is a secondary entry at Lougheed, and another just around the corner, but the main traffic from cars will come directly from the parkade. There are two elevators that go directly from the parkade into the wholefoods space.

I really wish they had gone with the mullion-free curtain wall for the entire office portion. I don't get why they do the two glass thing on so many towers....

So with the office opening in Spring 2016 as per the display sign, are they going to construct the residential portion while commercial tenants take occupancy below??

Yes, that was discussed previously in the thread.

So the color scheme is seafoam, highlighted with a different shade of seafoam? I actually enjoyed the use of grey on the first tower. Was hoping they would continue with some less frequently used color.

They probably wanted to differentiate the "façade planes" to break up the massing - the only one where it looks okay is 745 Thurlow
- because the mullion free curtain wall is much darker than the one with mullions. Here, there isn't enough contrast to be successful.

Yeah, I realize that's probably why they did it, but it looks horrible.

I also find that it looks horrible on 745 Thurlow. High-quality office towers should be mullion-free. Mullions look terrible and cheap.

I don't mind them on the more authentic international style buildings lie Guinness Tower and Oceanic Plaza.

Ok, that true. But those towers don't have a separate part of the facade with mullion-free glass.

My version from today.

And here's the completed Stratus tower. I think it turned out quite fine.

Great photos Klazu!

I was wondering if pedestrian traffic has picked up in the area with all these developments? From the photos, it still seems pretty quiet to me.

Whole Foods seemed busy, but generally it wasn't busy on the sidewalks. Few people here and there.

Stratus looks really short in your pics, but I guess it's your lens.

Yeah, straightening the vertical lines squeezes everything a bit. I was too lazy to walk far enough to minimize the effect and get the lines completely straight (should buy a tilt-shift lens to ease the process).

This time last year and now. It's surprising how long some projects take. At least gas is cheaper.

The podium part of this tower is quite large. Also if the construction company does a Monday to Friday schedule for their workers (7-4pm), it is usually takes longer. Some construction will allow Saturday work. I think Sunday work is not allowed by city bylaw.
