Bedrock in this area is around 100 feet deep. Rock socketed caissons for 150 N riverside were 110 feet IIRC.

EDIT: thought you were talking about caisson depths oops.

No. This won't be excavated to those debts because there's no underground parking here.

That concrete crusher looks like so much fun, I want to play with one. Kind of off topic but do they still use wrecking balls anymore? They cant use them in a crowded downtown areas but I've only seen one in my life actually in use back in the uic days over by lytle and grenshaw (little italy). I suppose they could only be used in open areas for large dilapidated buildings. I imagine their expensive to rent and get permits for as well.

Great demo pics - thanks everyone!

I just realized that if you consider 'The Loop' to be bounded by (as I do) the river, Michigan Ave. and Congress then this is the tallest tower to go up there since Legacy. And at a now whopping 1.6 million square feet (Vista is 1.8 for comparison) it is going to be a very visible building even in its skyscraper dense near surroundings. If it is 800 then will be 16 feet taller but also bigger by 300,000 sq feet than 300 North LaSalle - which is a big building.

So cool

Looking at that picture just made me realize how big of a view killer this is going to be for hundreds of office workers. But when you got an office next to a cruddy 5 floor building you should have known this day was coming. Take in your skyline views for the next four years before thier gone. At least they got a slick building to look at.
