I think this list seem to reflect why Vancouver aerial shots tend to look so dense.

Certainly downtown has a lot of towers but when you consider that Vancouver on the that list isn't mention till #60 it shows how few building dominate others. There is very little variance in the height or footprint of Vancouver buildings. This results in making the skyline look so large from the air...............there are no tall or thick buildings to block out other buildings near it. From the air you can see all the buildings as opposed to Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary were so many buildings are hidden by much taller and larger buildings surrounding it.

In Toronto from the air there are so many buildings that you can't even see even though in Vancouver they would be very large.

I updated the list, no more 88 Queen, and 308 Jarvis had its height chopped down, so it's gone too, but we gained 3606 Hurontario I in Mississauga and 356 Adelaide W in Toronto.

Toronto is getting very close to 50 buildings over 200 meters built/UC/Pro.

There are well known and big cities in North America that don't even have 50 buildings over 10 floors.

Even a not too big and not too well known city like Laval has more than 50 buildings over 10 floors...

Laval is a Suburb, so is Mississauga. So that doesn't really count. Mississauga's skyline is better than most cities of similar size or even well known cities across the continent. But it doesn't count because it's a suburb.

Take a look at these cities where you will struggle to find 50 buildings over 10 floors.

Wilmington North Carolina?
Oklahoma City ?
Regina?
Sacramento CA?
Syracuse NY?
New Haven CT?
Trenton?
Tulsa Oklahoma?
El Paso?
Lexington?
Baton Rouge?
Knoxville?
Rochester NY?
Spokane?
Akron?
Reno NV?
Tacoma?
Sarasota Fl?
Des Moines ?
Norfolk VA?
Madison WI?

I could go on, but I won't. lol This list would be pages long...

Sacramento? Rochester? those are big cities.. in Canadian terms they would be for sure.

Sacramento has a metro population of 2.5 million.

Rochester has a metro population of 1 million.

Norfolk - 1.7 million

Raleigh NC - 2 million.

Sacramento is in a states with 40 million people and a country of 320 million. "In Canadian terms" is a massive stretch of the imagination. Of course, there's no correlation between high rises and population beyond minimums for highrise to be economical.

So I registered just so I can respond to this nonsense. ....Mississauga doesn't count because it is a suburb?.. how do you figure? Mississauga is a city of it's own and regardless of its proximity to Toronto it most certainly does count. Typical of a Toronto forumer to just assume that anything that touches Toronto's borders is just theirs for the taking. That said, yes, Mississauga does have a great skyline for a suburban city. I drive into that city every day.. and I'm always impressed by what it has managed to achieve as far as skyline is concerned in a relatively short period of time.

When looked at from NYC, or Tokyo, or Hong Kong, Mississauga is most definitely a suburb of Toronto, regardless of whether or not it has amalgamated with Toronto or not. No-one from the rest of the world cares about stuff like that.
And again, having said that, yes, Mississauga is getting a great skyline of its own, and still growing as we speak... I am also impressed when driving through the city, especially going east on the 403.

I appreciate the compliments guys, thanks.
And please post anything new about tall towers here...

Mississauga wouldn't exist if it weren't for Toronto. It is its own municipality, sure, but its own city? nope.
