Union Square larger than any project in the USA

Hong Kong Union Square is an amazing project, larger than anything in the USA. In Miami, where there is more skyscraper construction underway than in any other US city, there is no project than can come close to this!

It says they're on the 35th floor. But in Chinese floor counting doesn't that mean they're actually on about the 29th?

No. In the worst case, it would be the 30th (if #4, 13, 14, 24 and 34 have been omitted).

So the Sears Tower must have 122 floors.

Right.
But the pretended floor count of Time Warner Center (80), TWT (90) and Park Imperial (70), are equally ridiculous. Or even more.

That entire building site is INSANE the scale and size is just amazing. Like some sort of huge walled city.

Aboveday's shot really helps me place the development now, the Peninsula is lower right.

A "walled city'' is exactly what this place is. So far it's been a disaster in terms of urban context etc. I am only excited for ICC because of its height, the whole complex basically sucks though. Maybe it will get better. I see they are working on the new station for the E-W rail link behind (north of) Union Square, maybe that will improve things on that side.

The photo with the Four Seasons is strongly zoomed, it gives the illusion that this project is a lot closer to TST than it actually is... it just sits there in the middle of nowhere...

The one million Sq.ft shopping mall "Elements" under ICC will be divided into five area with special decoration base on the five elements( wood, fire, earth, metal, and water) in Asian philosophy.

Metal(to the entrance of ICC)

Wood(notice the lady is eating banana)

Water

Fire

Earth

Good !
I like it when decoration means something. Hopefully, it won't be too shiny and impersonal.

Come on, it can't be that bad. Also you say it's a disaster in terms of urban context, what context?

Well it is up against the harbor, so on one side it will always look "wall" like. But looking at what is built away from the water, I don't think it looks out of place at all.

And the "wall" look isn't new in HK.

Here's a picture I took of Highcliff from the office building in Causeway Bay I was working in:

Lots of walls here as well.
