Only if it also has a Golden Griddle restaurant out front.

This one is coming along for better or worse. It appears to be three ugly colors now instead of just that ugly turd brown. They missed their SXSW opening date as reservations are being accepted beginning in June. This will most assuredly be the third downtown hotel to piss and moan about that music noise.

I thinking they should have used bricks instead of that ugly stucco. Although I don't mind the silver, to me it actually saves the entire outside facade from being a complete monstrosity. Nonetheless I welcome it as long as they don't try to sue any bar clubs on Red River.

Same here. Based on their history, it would be ironic if they ever complain about Cheer Up Charlies' music.

Trust me, they would have done it if they had the budget. No architect wants their building to come out as ugly as this.

Sadly most developers want to save a few pennies to put cheap materials on their buiildings that will be moldy and falling off in 10 years.

I would never blame the architect. They design for their client's budget, of course. Lower end hotels have lower end budgets, so this is what we get. But we need lower in hotels just as we need affordable housing.

Hyatt House looks a little better with the new signs that they installed as well as a new bar. I might have to check that out soon.

Except they would have air conditioning units sticking out of those insignificant square thingies. Even those signs are ugly. The blue 'H' looks like a universal sign for Hospital. Hopefully no one with a medical emergency will mistake this building for one. Its so hard to elevate our skyline to elite and world class status with designs like these downtown, yet they... just...keep... coming.

And those AC units are going to let in a lot of noise from the music venues below. Obviously no though has been given to sound proofing the rooms of this place. Those walls and windows need to be sound proofed and the windows probably should be triple glazed. Hope management can keep their mouth shut when hotel guests start to complain about noise.

We can mark this baby complete on May 15th. Here's a short drone flyby:

Here's a screen capture. Talk about a blank wall.

It doesn't look as bad as I thought it would, but it's certainly not the most interesting wall in the city, that's for sure...

I also really don't feel like it imposes on the bar too much as a lot of folks feared. Granted, it does tower over it (pun intended) a bit, but they didn't lose their rock wall or anything like that.
