I guess it's going to be chain stores along the new retail streets, never-the-less, I hope they put a lot of effort into the streetscape. From the videos I've seen it looks like there will be upgraded sidewalks and streets, but it looks like a lot glass for the retail units. What makes streets like Commercial Drive, Main Street, etc., is the variation in colour and building materials - modulating storefronts. It would be nice to see that formula applied at Brentwood.

Not stoked on those balconies. But it's an exciting project nonetheless.

If the wrap-around balconies provide shading to meet LEED - and if the alternatve is to reduce window area by using spandrel - I prfer the wrap-around balconies.

Marketting. They wanted to show the water of Burrard inlet even though the project really is nowhere close. If they did the render straight on it looks less dramatic. People attribute water with wealth on a subconcience.

Ah, I suppose you are right, although I would think that showing the 2 towers in full would make the rendering somewhat grander.

I suppose it's a catch-22, if residents are also complaining about the size of the towers.

I hope that the renderings depict what we will finally get. I really like the illuminated fountain and tree in the central plaza.

This tower has grown on me more so than any recently.

Its completely "un-Vancouver" and I find that very appealing about it.

Its tall, its wide, its spanned by balconies. I enjoy it.

Rennie must be having the interns run this puppy. I mean, it IS in Burnaby after all.

The logo has started appearing on signage inside the mall as well.

Super stoked!

I looks forward to post updates on the construction. I have a great view of the site.

Wonder how deep the hole for this one will go.

I'm about equidistant between Brentwood and Lynn Valley and the difference in scale of the mall renos is hilarious. People angrily fought against two 12 storey towers in the latter because it would cause apocalyptic traffic problems and turn North Van into Manhattan, while in Burnaby they're like "eehhh 13 50+ storey towers might be a bit of a concern but it's ok."
