Traffic jam towards the airport, where we should leave our rental car. No car is needed in central Valencia, it would rather be a problem.

TORRE DE SERRANOS:

Torres de Serranos (the Serrano towers, Puerta de Serranos in Valencian) is a historic structure, situated in the North end of the Old Town, next to Barrio del Carmen, facing the Turia Gardens. This is an ancient gateway of the former city wall, consisting of two towers, each with a viewing platform that can be climbed for a small fee, and offers great views of Valencia. The structure was built 1392-98 in Valencian Gothic style, and is one of only two gates that still exist (the other one is Torres de Quarts), of the ancient city wall's originally twelve gateways. Torres de Serranos was for a long time the main gate and defence for the city, and between 1586-1887 it was used as a prison for noble people, that is the reason why it survived when the city wall was pulled down in 1865. The back facade looks completly different from the front that, that is facing the boulevard.

Hm... Hell, you're a good person, whatever your actual name could be, wherever you're from.

This is the cutest evil crucifixion I've ever seen. And I was raised a goddamn Catholic, so that's quite something. I saw a heck of a bunch of crucifixions.

I think you must be aware, you won't find it anywhere in France, and I doubt it would be anywhere in Italy either. The guy crucified with someone helping him is right there in your picture.

You'r right! And to be honest I can't remember if it was part of Torres de Serranos itself or some church I just zoomed in while I stood on the top. Too many impressions at the same time!

PRINCIPE FELIPE SCIENCE MUSEUM:

El Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe is an interactive science museum with impressive architecture that resembles the skeleton of a whale and covers 40,000 m². This is the most massive of the structures and is situated in the center of the science area, 220m long, 80m wide and 55 m high. It opened in 2000 and was designed by Calatrava. It is surrounded by part of the Turia Gardens. Manuel Toharia, a Spanish screen writer and TV personality, is the director of the museum. We visited the museum, part of a combined ticket. In the museum you find interactive experiments, models of rockets and other space structures, two airplanes, an air balloon, gravity experiments, new born chickens, an ant colony, a Marvel exhibtion and massive bright open public areas among many other things. Parts of it were a bit noisy due to large school classes visiting.

OCEANOGRAFIC:

L'Oceanogràfic, Europe's largest oceanographic aquarium is partly an outdoor park, and partly situated in buildings that have shapes of water lilies, designed by Félix Candela. It opened in 2003 and covers a surface of 110 000 m², features 42 million liters of water and 45 000 animals. Each building represents different aquatic environments such as the Mediterranean, Wetlands, Temperate and Tropical Seas, Oceans, the Antarctic, the Arctic, Islands and the Red Sea. Over 500 different species, including dolphins, belugas, sawfish, jellyfish, starfish, sea urchins, walruses, seals, penguins, sea lions, turtles, sharks and rays can be found.
There is also an avarium with rare wetland birds. We visited the aquarium the last day, before taking the train back to Alicante. It is very extensive and interesting, and it features an underwater tunnel, a small room that is under water and several restaurants.
