Just remember...Rome wasn't built in a day...neither was Chicago...or New York...or San Francisco (okay, this one kinda sprung up fast because of the gold rush...). What I'm trying to say is, you're expecting a city to conform to the way you (we, even) want it to be overnight. A high-rise in Natomas is progress. They're not going to build more apartments over there. Doesn't South Natomas already have a bad rep for crime? If not, someone needs to check the Sac Police Crime Mapping Tool as I have been! It's not pretty! Anyways, if a business wants to build a 12-story building IN NATOMAS, that's great! It's not ideal...but, it's great. Business investment like that is a wonderful thing. Sacramento has a deep rooted car culture. It's changing a bit. But, until DNA is built, people will have a million excuses as to why they shouldn't take public transportation. Even with DNA, they'll give a million excuses. I could ramble all day. But, I won't! I know we all want the best for Sacramento. I think we just have to remember that our opinion (as right as it may be) about what's right may be TOTALLY different than someone elses and we just have to live with that.

But can't you see it coming? This project is the first and all it takes is one.
Better to start planning for it, then to fix the problem down the line.

at least Sacramento has identified it wants to be more dense and create more alternatives to using the car and the freeways, always a good start, and there are areas where around the light rail walkable communities are going in. I can imagine in 10 years or so with a younger population which will be fed by the lower cost of living that the transit oreiented deveolpments will be really popular especially with gas prices going back over $3 a gallon, It'll be like mission valley here in San Diego which has built a mini city around the trolley line that runs through.

Great update, Serge. I like how you can see the slanted ceiling on the 25th floor of 621.

And that parking lot for the Natomas tower is HUGE! It's like 90% of the site! OK, maybe more like 80%.

Oh, and almost forgot to mention that on the 621 site under the project tab, there is a link to some pictures taken from the 14th and 19th floors.

hey i have a question about 621cm's tower feature lights. will they be visible from both sides of the building, like back in front and back, or just the front, which faces south?

just wondering cause i live up here by the railyards site, and could already see 621 poke up in the sky. wouldnt mind a colorful display from Zapata Park!

I just drove back tonight from West Sac to East Sac over the 50/Bus.80/CapCity whateverthehellit'scalled... I suggest you do this drive at night before 621CM starts hanging its skin. It's the coolest effect seeing the Darth Vader (Renaissance Tower) and US Bank Plaza (next to Chaves Park) shimmer through the skeleton of 621. Sorry didn't get any pics, and I suggest you have someone else drive so you can take in the visual.

My husband and I will be taking that drive on Friday. We're going to be in town for job/apt hunting and flying into SF. 4 more weeks until we're Sacramentans!

I find it very amusing how 500 CM has been progessing so rapidly yet it is the least talked about highrise under construction on this site.

Effectively, 500 CM was announced probably 1-1.5 years after Aura was annouced yet it is already under construction and Aura is STILL a parking lot.

The fast pace of 500 CM is pretty amazing. It shows how fast something can go from proposal to construction if the developer has money. A real good constract between Saca/Nassi and the Tsakoloplas (sp?) family.

Took me about 7.5 secs to figure out where this was taken from. A very rare angle...

Thanks for the photos, Innov8.

Makes a difference when a developer has money pouring out of their pockets eh? Now if Nassi had several hundred million in the bank, I'm sure Epic and Aura would be going up at the same time

I don't know about everyone else, but I think it's a bit menacing to the dome.

Shhhh.... bow tie man might hear you! Next thing you know, he will be at a City Council meeting saying "Tear them all down and bring back the horse and buggy. These new fangled machines called auto-mobiles are ruining the air."
