Calgary Construction XXVI

Hello everyone, the previous thread has been closed not due to the fact that it was too long but that much of the conversation was off-topic and aggravating. I apologise for not intervening sooner. While I can say that Edmonton is more my domain and I feel uncomfortable talking about what is going on in Calgary, I know I should be looking over the discussions more closely.

Any which way, I would like to see this thread be directed to more on-topic discussion. I understand that there is an old tradition that we use the construction thread for miscellaneous and general conversations but I am going to ask that we cease with that tradition. Please use this thread for discussing construction updates, whether that be photos taken, sharing of rumours on new construction, or discussing construction methods appropriate for Calgary.

Any topics including pet subjects will need to be discussed in other threads. That includes discussion on general economics, general urban development, municipal politics, and general urban life discussions in their appropriate threads.

I hope we can have a more constructive discussion on this thread for construction.

That YWCA site should be a game changer for Inglewood, like what I've seen so far with the design, hopefully it doesn't get too watered down. https://www.ywcalgary.ca/about-us/ne...-in-inglewood/

Lets try to keep this one civil please guys, the last thread was beyond ridiculous! Thanks Xelebes!

Yeah exactly, once built it and the West Canadian building will form an eastern bookend to 9th avenue. Hopefully some good things will show up between 14th and 14A streets.

I like how it will start to tie Inglewood together a bit, that neighbourhood is very fragmented.

Fun fact, in the past ~140 years that parcel:
-1924 - vacant land
-1948 - storage yard
-1979 - storage yard with a triangular small building at the intersection
-present - what looks like maybe greenhouses or the recent self storage.

So this will be the first substantial structure ever built there.

Crazy. Glad to see it finally put to good use.

I've been installing some A/C on top of the Chinook pedestrian bridge the last couple days, good view of Telus Sky going up from there. No pictures though unfortunately. Won't be long though until it is higher than the Calgary Tower.

Please please don’t get annoyed with me if this has been answered in the past, but I drove between Deerfoot Trail and Edmonton Trail on 16th ave N the other day and noticed a lot of fenced off parcels on the south side of the avenue. Are there impending developments on these sites?

Also, is there a developer that’s expressed interest in buying and redeveloping Midfield MHP?

If it on 16th itself it would be PCL building the bus pads for the Crosstown BRT

Would fencing off a whole site be needed for bus pads?

Depends where. They have the lot on the SE corner of 16th and centre fenced off for their staging area. Besides that what exact addresses on that stretch are you looking at. I know the mobile home park is under redevelopment just west of Deerfoot on 16th

That's what I was hoping for with Brookfield. 707 is my favourite new highrise in this city by far.

Looks fantastic. I agree with Calgarian, it's what Brookfield should have looked like.

I noticed over at SRC there's a new proposal for Bridgeland that looks promising. I'd like to see more of this around Calgary.
