Looks to me more like they're searching for someone's golf ball.

Since, of course, playing golf on an under-construction skyscraper is a long-standing tradition:

Maybe being out of plumb was just one of those Greek visual tricks, like the columns of the Parthenon.....

I don't know why, but the building looks more "complete" in that picture than it does in the previous ones, even if they were posted only one day apart.

looks like they added a few more pairs of the metal cages that frame the vertical aluminum facade on the east face of the building & a couple more windows, good progress for another couple weeks

got a closer look today from the One Liberty Observation Deck, looks like a little bit of activity - some welding going on about half way up the hotel portion, saw maybe 5 workers in total spread around though nothing on the roof level. Not the greatest pictures but with the binoculars they have mounted up there you can get a pretty detailed view of everything & from what I could see it looks like they're welding some beams that fall somewhere between each floor presumably to attach the windows to. It looks like they're working from the top down, there are maybe 4 sets of these.

Did they top this one off today, save the spire? I looked at it and it seems to me the last top structural beam has been placed.

The roof level was topped off in January. There have been several columns placed on the west end of the building where the cooling tower/lantern will be if that's what you're referring to?

'Tis indeed. I'm hoping they get at least part of the cooling towers up before the NFL draft, but that is probably far-fetched.

There have been lots of rumours about why construction slowed to a crawl once they got the glass and fireproofing to the bottom of the hotel section. Although this is nothing like FMC's design (with steel transitioning to concrete), I get the impression that mixed use projects have "transition" issues in general when moving from one section to the next.
