Recently (temp.) moved to Fort Garry, so now instead of 14,16, 54, 55, 59 routes, I have 3 roues to choose from... 60, 160, 170.

The 170 is super crowded SRO ALL DAY, EVERY DAY, and I like having a seat because I am paying so much (almost $3) to ride the "Made in Manitoba rapid transit".

So I end up riding the 160 where I usually get a seat.

The 170 needs the "long buses" too, not just the 160 Pembina Express (if that's what it's called).

There's about 20,000 160, 162, etc that run back to back to back down Graham Ave every day. So I don't know how there aren't enough seats haha

Article about the repairs in the WFP: https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/lo...489037281.html

Hard to believe it's already been open for 6 years (and we're still not even close to done phase 2). If it's been open for 6 years, some parts could be 8 years old already... seems perfectly reasonable to have to do some repairs already.

One things that's interesting though is that here where it's closed, busses can take Pembina and not be too far away from the existing route – except for the Fort Rouge & Jubilee stations. I almost wonder if the transitway should really be 3 lanes wide to accomodate repairs like this... it's not always a great option (if there is even one) to reroute these busses like crazy.

Looks like they're laying the concrete they cut out the other day. They're also cleaning up the shrubs around the Harkness station.

They should just plant "prairie grasses" in the long thin stretch with trees from Harkness Station to Main. The grass isn't taking well and it just looks like weeds and mud. No maintenance, would look better.

RFP out for Winnipeg Transit Master Plan. Common sense prevails.

Winnipeg Transit has announced their fall schedule changes starting September 2nd

The are 2 major changes:

1) The 78 routes will be split into 2 separate routes.

- 78 Waverley will replaced the old 78 Cambridge leg,

74 Kenaston leg will replaced the old 78 Kenaston leg with routing down Bison and Waverley instead of Pembina, service  to the Outlet Mall, only rush-hour service to Tuxedo Business Park, and Lowson Crescent, and extended hours later in the evening.

2) A major schedule change affecting all routes to the University of Manitoba to improve service frequency and reliability

Shall we talk about how it's been over 5 years to build a couple of extra exclusive roads from the first extension?
Sir, Winnipeg hosted two PanAm Games in the past, 1967 & 1999.

Something went wrong when the governments of the day missed opportunities to build rail transit HERE, in time, as a lasting legacy.

with the city planning on spending money on a active transit bridge over the assiniboine between osborne and donald, what do people think about adding a transit ROW with the bridge (possibly a tram/streetcar) that could serve downtown and Osborne Village (with possible future connections?) something like from HSC down william, south onto Main until broadway, broadway to Edmonton, south down Edmonton across the bridge into Osborne Village, then west down River to Wellington -> Grosvenor -> Stafford? with a possible future conneciton to Grant Park.

edit: fchanged transit to active transit

When did the City announce this? Is this part of the pedestrian bridge planned around there?

I haven’t heard of a transit bridge just an AT bridge.

Assuming you're referring to the AT bridge being planned... I'd rather just see the Donald bridge expanded/rebuilt to be 3 lanes each way with one being transit an shared AT sidewalks. Keep transit routes on the main streets.

TBH I love the idea of this proposed AT bridge, but if we could only have one thing, I'd much rather see Donald/Smith get bike lanes (there's lots of room) and the bridge be expanded to properly accomodate bikes, which would connect the Exchange bike network to the RT AT path (and on River/Stradbrook).

Either way, hope this AT bridge happens and is a success and reasonably priced... then put them up all over. Next top candidates would be to link South St. Vital to U of M, and Norwood/Old St. Vital to Riverview (maybe near Guay Park).

Trains are running on the new rail bridge at Pembina and Jubilee as of tonight.

Will be running on both bridges for the next few months until the final phases of work are complete.

Rode 185 Osborne Village Express northbound this afternoon around 3 pm.

3 passengers, including myself in the Fort Garry to Osborne Station portion of the route, while other routes like the 170 experience overcrowding.

Totally useless. Needs to be cancelled.

Anecdotal evidence from a midsummer Friday early afternoon is definitely how we should build a transit system.

Work stopped on part of the Southwest BRT, you mean cutting into the base of MB Hydro towers isn't a good thing?
