What can I say? People are so sensitive therefore I will only say nice things about it. It's not dull. It's colorful. It's better than a hole in the ground or a parking lot.

Hey thanks for the info GoFerrari27; yeah now I look at it again it looks way to small to have a helipad on top of it.

I got to see this bad boy in person during my quick trip home for Christmas. I have to admit, I think it looks MUCH better in person that how I thought it was going to turn out.

Maybe the architect is secretly thinking "Oh my GOD!!!???"

It does blend in, but Sac needs some things that will stick OUT.

Wait, is it 1986 again? Seriously, if it weren't for the crane in those photos I would have told myself that building is twenty years old. This is the kind of banal architecture I would expect to find in a suburban corporate center,

Great shots Innov8 & Itsmotorsport!! Through the fog, you can tell how 621 and 500 adds to the skyline. I wish 621 was higher to add some height to the center of the city.

Visiting my family on the east coast for Christmas, I had a layover in Las Vegas and counted 20+ cranes on their skyline. It kinda made me sad because they are about done w/ the glass install on the outside of 500 and soon the crane will come down and then we will have none.

Any bets on what project will bring our next crane???

1986, really? CG, be fair now. Which building in Sacramento do you consider to be more innovative than 500? The "lite brite" tower at 621? Vader? Kado's designs have been accused of being oddball or too "Vegas" but 1986? Banal, really? This is a building meant to attract lawyers and professionals not weekend gamblers from Kansas. So maybe you are right however because what else is downtown Sac if not a "suburban corporate center"? Seriously now, if this building is banal then what are the other ones in the panoramic shots on this page?

In fairness to CGII I see his (or her) point, but I would say it looks more like something that came out of the nineties not the 80s.

Sacramento really didn't have a skyline before the 90s and is barely starting to get one now. Hardly respresentative for the center of a metropolitan area of this size. But all in all its coming together nicely. Had it not been for a few major letdowns the skyline might even be impressive.

I really didn't like 500 CM when it was first u/c, but now its growing on me (much in the same way Vader has) and it will will fit in nicely on the west end of CM.

Holy cow!! I would s#it in my pants! LOL!!! It is good to see there are 49ers fans amongest the crew!! :-)

It is also good to see they have the flag pole in position. Hey I just noticed -- they have completely removed the construction elevator from the side of the building AND installed the glass where it was!! Wow -- talk about fast!!!

Enjoy the crane tonight because we are going to start dismantling it tomorrow. Will take about 12 days to perform. We'll have the tower crane bay closed up in a few weeks once the crane is gone. I'll miss seeing that crane above Sacramento, especially decked out with the Christmas lights, but a big American flag fully illuminated at night should be great.

^Wow. That last shot really gives an idea of how much two buildings have altered West Capitol Mall. The little pointy tower on top of 500CM makes a nice counter to the top of 621CM.
