Very true. But hey, this is an industrial district turned residential, it will take time to cement and gain some sort of community amenities.

There's a small community centre near the cemetary behind the area.
Friends that live near there go to the Eileen Daly Pool on Hastings in the Heights.

Looks like this may be a more current design for the office component.

Rather unfortunate, but at least there is some sort of update with this project.

There is some evidence the office component may be a phased tower, but that is primarily speculation at this point.

All 4 renders have been there for awhile now, there is absolutely nothing new.

This render you've posted shows Phase 1 basically which'll call for a 14 storey office tower and a 5 storey midrise. When demand warrants it, the 14 storey office tower can be expanded to 29 storeys and the midrise can be expanded to 9 storeys. There have been three buildings in Metro Vancouver that have been successfully expanded upwards already.

Appia/Bosa is not a developer that'll cheap out on projects... I expect this project to be fully built out as shown.

We were discussing the project a bit in the Suburban Updates thread:

Thanks for the info guys. I have put an entry in the database for the office tower - http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=83897

Here's what phesto said in the other thread, for what it's worth.

In any event, the project will be phased so that the south half is developed first with residential and retail, and the office later (ie. much later).

It’s on hold at the moment though, so it will likely go through more design iterations before it is actually built.

I was thinking more Guildford Corporate Office but it doesn't look like it's been built up yet.

We shouldn't really complain about height on this one. If we want sustainable living (live where you work kind of stuff), then we have to remember that an office building will hold more people per square foot than a housing unit. Tall is nice and dandy, but not when it is at the expense of sustainable living.

Even though it is located at the foot at what is becoming a busy train station?

Not every one who works in the building will live in that complex and not everyone who lives in that complex is going to e working in that building...

We should start hearing more about this project shortly. It has been renamed Solo District and looks like I'll have to re-title the thread. Don't know what the heights will be now but the floor counts have gone up quite a bit. Personally I think the current plan has some serious flaws that need addressing, hopefully they get worked out.

Here's the retail marketing pamphlet. I like how the project has over 1300 units yet the 3 min population barely increases.

Note that link will probably be dead shortly so if you're interested in the document, save it.

Just a small observation from the pamphlet, but kind of weird that they labelled the Sears at Brentwood as The Bay...
