21C, partly cloudy with occasional showers here in Moncton today.

Suddenly, the maples in my backyard started to turn red since yesterday.

Actually topped out at 23C today in Moncton. Had a few showers before sunrise, but a beautiful day after that. A few clouds and really pleasant weather. It's always nice to see shorts and tee shirts in October.

I was downtown near lunchtime today visiting my accountant and snapped this photo of city hall plaza. If you're wondering why there is a Chinese flag prominently on display it's because of an event sponsored by the Chinese Cultural Society in the city.

A beautiful day, though mostly cloudy.

19C and mostly cloudy. Despite not being a fully overcast day, it definitely was the darkest day in about a month. Still we got some sunshine out of today and the temperature isn't bad for October (despite breezy conditions).

Morning low of 13C.

So with summer now over in the west, it was quite the season.

The highest temperature recorded in Canada this year was 40.1 on August 11 in Lytton.

Osoyoos must be currently having one of the driest stretches of weather in Canadian history.

Since May 10th Osoyoos has only recorded 1.7mm or rain... That is 117 days. July recorded 0.0mm (along with many cities in the Okanagan)

Summerland had the longest stretch of no precipitation at 71 days.

I think best summer goes to Ashcroft:

May: H 23.7 L 8.5
June: H 28.1 L 13.1
July: H 32.7 L 16.4
August: H 32.1 L 15.5
September: H 25.0 L 11.7

Lytton was also pretty good

May: H 23.7 L 8.9
June: H 26.5 L 13.3
July: H 31.5 L 16.6
August: H 32.7 L 15.9
September: H 25.6 L 12.3

If you prefer more moderate warm temperatures there are areas such as Peachland in the Okanagan as well

May: H 20.5 L 9.1
June: H 25.0 L 13.5
July: H 30.7 L 18.0
August: H 28.5 L 16.6
September: H 22.8 L 12.5

19C and sunny! A bit breezy but it's very comfortable for October.

Low in the double digits again (11C).

Will be in Boston for the long weekend. The forecast:
Saturday: 24C, low of 19C
Sunday: 26C, low of 20C
Monday: 22C, low of 18C

FYI, the lowest temperature so far this season recorded in Boston is 47F (8.3C).

For NYC, the lowest temperature so far is 50F (10C). It's also the northernmost point on the continent that is characterized as "subtropical".
We can therefore brag about being the closest city (in distance) in Canada to a subtropical climate.

I've seen the odd map under which New York City was designated as "subtropical", but that's far fetched imo. I wouldn't call a city that is constantly subject to blizzards and cold snaps subtropical.

Anyways, low of 18C here today, this has to be a record.

Except Windsor is much closer to Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky (444km) than Montreal is to NYC (595km)

Friend out in Corner Brook said the West Coast and Central are all already colorful:

Extremely windy and cold here today. Headed down to the last day of the 104st market. Wind was blowing the tents about. The gin and vodka tasting from Strathcona Distilleries helped get through the rest of the market. Looks like 3 tomorrow then 14 for Monday.

Ridiculously humid in Moncton today. The temperature at 3AM was 17C, currently 19C with a high today expected of 21C. It feels very tropical outside........

It's so humid inside the house that I'm seriously contemplating turning on the A/C again (in October)!!!
