October is my favourite month in Shanghai. The weather is just perfect this time of year.

Last night was clear and cool at 19c.

This picture, literally, not just an expression, makes me happy. No idea why. But, yeah, beautiful! And fun. It's got beauty, comedy, everything.

The Environment Canada official weather station in Sherbrooke dipped below zero for the first time of the season yesterday (a low of -0,6 C in the early morning at the federal experimental farm in the Lennox borough). I don't believe we had any frost downtown (where I currently live) but if we stick to official stations, we now do belong on the freeze list.

17C and sunny today (it clouded up this evening). Morning low of 7C.

Because of the cloud cover, I will sleep with the windows open as the temperature is 15C.

The warmspot was Saint-Anicet, QC at 21.8C.

Giallo, has the smog situation improved in Shanghai over the last 10 years? Your recent photos don't show any smog.

Overcast. We went for a quick hike/beach fire at La Manche. There were probably 50 people in various groups milling around the former town site. It was nice.

Guy on the right was hiking in a pea coat and dress shoes. He fell off that rock not long after, but was fine. Gave his GF a fright though.

Hurricane Ophelia became a major storm today and it is heading towards... Ireland!!!

This map shows the formation all all major hurricanes (going back to 1851). Notice where Ophelia formed.

Hurricane Vince (2005) made landfall in Spain (to date the only known tropical system to make landfall in Europe) but it was nowhere as strong as Ophelia.

18C and overcast... low of 14C. Picked up some tomatoes today. They are barely growing now that there is no heat.

Single digits highs from Winnipeg to the Interior. Kamloops reported snow mixed with rain this afternoon. The high there was colder than the coldest temperature recorded so far in downtown Montreal.

Every single year it is the same thing, my mind cannot process the fact that some parts of the Prairies (mainly Saskatchewan) have had temperatures below -10C before mid-October. Like -12.1C in Regina yesterday... WHAT???

The warmspot was Point Pelee, ON (southernmost weather station in the country) at 22.0C.

Warm and muggy here this morning, 23C at 10am, with a humidex of 30, and a dew point of 19.3C! Yesterday hit 21.2C! The rest of the week is looking very warm with mostly sunny skies, just beautiful for mid October!

Thanks. I missed that.

Looking at future forecasts, Sudbury may fall tonight. Ottawa, Kingston & Montreal may be at some risk tomorrow.

I usually give short shrift to eco activists who blame every heavy rainfall on the doom of global warming, but this, this, is damned peculiar.

No hurricane has ever formed this far north in the eastern Atlantic. No hurricane has ever followed a track like this. There has never been a landfalling hurricane in the British Isles.

There's something going on here! I'm certainly willing to speculate that global warming might have something to do with this particular phenomena.

Unhappy Wow!

Wow! That's crazy. I would've never thought that something like this would occur. I must question how Ireland and the British Isles will prepare for a potential scenario like this in time, which is something I hate to admit but is unfortunately valid in this changing world.
