Forecast now looks like we won't freeze this week. Tonight's low of 1C is now 3C.

I'm surprised how long Sudbury hung on for.

Just a slight correction about Ottawa. They froze before midnight so EC is showing the first sub-zero temperature on Oct 16 rather than Oct 17.

As for Kingston and Montreal, we'll have to wait until tomorrow because with low hourly temps of 0.3C and 0.2C respectively, chances are we briefly dropped below freezing in between hours.

I expected to see overnight frost in my Ottawa neighbourhood, but we didn't get it. I'll get to enjoy a second blooming of my clematis for a while yet, it would seem.

Doyle's Almanac (NL's equivalent of the Farmer one) launches tonight at the Benevolent Irish Society. They gave the media a preview: an average 2018 but colder than usual temperatures this winter. They don't anticipate many big storms but expect all the little snowfalls to stay on the ground for longer.

Yawn.

I didn't see frost in my neighbourhood either, but I did turn on the heat for the first time this fall.

Yeah, I moved my potted cherry tomato plant into my garage last night, because of Nicko's scare tactics.

edit - only got down to 4 at my place.

(I did.. but not because of Nickoweather (TM).)

As things are shaping up, your tomatoes should be ripening for at least another week. I think we're already past the time when we'd normally expect frost, no?

Strangely enough, on the night we officially froze, there was no visible frost in my neighbourhood either.

Incidentally, the unofficial frost last week killed all of my tomatoes.

Sunny warm 19 in the Peg, forecast high of 20 with highs in the high teens to low 20's until the weekend.

Don't know about the official "freeze" list but didn't have a frost where I live in the Peg until Oct 15th!

Same here still have some green tomatoes on the vine. Brought my potted plant inside to ripen them. We had frost once or twice now.
