What San Antonio buildings are these?

I'm trying to get a few of these photos added at Emporis to their respective buildings, and even if the buildings aren't listed at Emporis, then I'll just go ahead and add them.

Any help is much appreciated. I've uploaded all the ones I knew, but these have me stumped.

1 - The church. And does anyone know what building that is under construction in the background? Notice the crane?

2 - The white residential building. I've heard the name before, but it escapes me.

3

4 - I've always been curious about this one. Any history behind it?

5 - The building on the left.

6 - Some hospital I presume. What building is that on the left with the dome? That's beautiful!

7 - The church.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

1. That church is Motherhouse Chapel on the University of the Incarnate Word campus...
http://www.uiw.edu/virtual/motherhc.html

I would assume that crane is for some construction on the UIW campus, but I don't know for sure.

2. Has something to do with White Wings flour. That may be the mill or something.

5. Villa Tranchese Apartments?

6. Not sure about the domed building, but the big one isn't a hospital, it's the Bexar County jail.

1. The building under construction on the UIW campus will actually be a retirement community for nuns. The crane is down now and the building appears to be 6 floors. The Broadway will be just to the left of the blue ATT building in your picture.

2. The name of the building is 4001 New Braunfels Ave (after the address). It's a 15 story condo tower that was built 20 or 25 years ago. From what I heard it took a while for all the condo units to sell out. When The Broadway is completed it will be about 500 yards to the left of 4001 New Braunfels.

4. Pioneer Flower Mills. The company was started by the Guenther family in Fredricksburg back in the mid 1800's and eventually moved to SA. I think the current mill was built in the 1870's. Today the company is privately owned by descendants of the Guenther family

#3 looks like a power plant to me. However, I'm not a San Antonio native, so I'm really not a good source.

I think it is the old CPS energy plant off of Mission Rd. just south of downtown, but I don't know if it has an official name.

You're right...it's now called the CPS Training Facility. #6 is the San Antonio City Employees Credit Union.

With number 6 I was asking what that long red bricked building is. I looked it up, and it is the Bexar County Jail, (the address matched). If you look in the photo you can see a white bus driving near it, I guess to carry inmates.

Are you talking about that domed structure? I hadn't noticed it when I was up in the tower. Next time I'll have to go over and explore it. It looks interesting. It almost looks like a train station, maybe not, but there's a set of tracks behind it.

You're absolutely right. It used to be a train station.

Kevin, I did know what #6 was because way back in 1988, I was working for a firm that designed the Tarrant County Corrections Center. We took a tour of the Bexar County Jail to get ideas for the one here in Fort Worth.

Is that the one with the dome? Because that long red one has been established to be the county jail.
